One Year Bible Intercessors...

Over four years ago, the Lord impressed

upon me to begin teaching His Torah as a part of what has become this One Year Bible and Torah Readings Letter. Earlier that year, I had received a Messianic calendar from a friend at the Jericho Center in Colorado Springs.

Since I was not born a Jew, I asked God how I would add this teaching of Torah into the existing One Year Bible Letter. He simply said: "You have the calendar."

So, a very interesting journey began, one that has blessed my husband, my son and me; along with, I hope and pray, many others...those who are Jewish and those like me, who are Divinely "grafted in."

To give you an idea of our Jewish roots, here are the Five Books of Torah in a visual/verbal snapshot.

You are invited to learn Torah with us, by reading one-by-one, its 54 Parashas/Portions each week.

And, as an added bonus, the traditional Haftarah/Prophets Readings are included along with

the Messianic Brit Chadashah/New Testament Readings.

Shalom!

The First Book of Torah is Bereishith or Genesis

Page 2: One Year Bible Intercessors - ifapray.org 28 - One Year Bible Intercessors... · One Year Bible Intercessors... ... a very interesting journey began, ... Exodus begins the story of

Bereshit, Bereishit, Bereishis, B'reshith, Beresheet, or Bereishees (ית ראש Hebrew for "in — ב

beginning,” the first word in the parashah) is the first weekly Torah portion (שה ר parashah) in the ,פ

annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading.

Genesis begins with the so-called "primeval history" (Genesis 1–11), the story of the world's

beginnings and the descent of Abraham. This is followed by the story of the

three patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), Joseph(Genesis 12–50) and the four matriarchs (Sarah, Rebekah, Leah and Rachel). God gives to the patriarchs a promise of the land of Canaan, but at the end of Genesis the sons of Jacob end up leaving Canaan for Egypt due to a regional famine. They had heard that there was a grain storage and distribution facility in Egypt.

The Second Book of Torah is Shemot or Exodus

Shemot, Shemoth, Shemois, Shemaus, Shemeis, or Shemos (מו ת Hebrew for “names,” the — ש

second word, and first distinctive word, of the parashah) is the thirteenth weekly Torah portion (שה ר .parashah) in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading ,פ

Exodus begins the story of God's revelation to his people Israel through Moses, who leads them out of Egypt (Exodus 1–18) to Mount Sinai. There the people accept a covenant with God, agreeing to be his people in return for agreeing to abide by his Law. Moses receives the Torah from God, and mediates His laws and Covenant (Exodus 19–24) to the people of Israel. Exodus also deals with the first violation of the covenant when the Golden Calf was constructed (Exodus 32–34). Exodus concludes with the instructions on building the Tabernacle (Exodus 25–31; 35–40.)

The Third Book of Torah is Vayikra or Leviticus

Page 3: One Year Bible Intercessors - ifapray.org 28 - One Year Bible Intercessors... · One Year Bible Intercessors... ... a very interesting journey began, ... Exodus begins the story of

Vayikra, VaYikra, Va-yikra, or Vayyiqra (רא ק Hebrew for "and He called,” the first word in the — וי

parashah) is the 24th weekly Torah portion (שה parashah) in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah ,פר

reading and the first in the book of Leviticus.

Leviticus begins with instructions to the Israelites on how to use the Tabernacle, which they had just built (Leviticus 1–10). This is followed by rules of clean and unclean (Leviticus 11–15), which includes the laws of slaughter and animals permissible to eat (see also:Kashrut), the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16), and various moral and ritual laws sometimes called the Holiness Code (Leviticus 17–26.)

The Fourth Book of Torah is Bamidbar or Numbers

Bemidbar, BeMidbar, B'midbar, or Bamidbar (בר ד מ ,Hebrew for "in the desert," the fifth word — ב

and the first distinctive word, in the parashah) is the 34th weekly Torah portion (שה ר parashah) in ,פ

the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading and the first in the book of Numbers.

Numbers tells how Israel consolidated itself as a community at Sinai (Numbers 1–9), set out from Sinai to move towards Canaan and spied out the land (Numbers 10–13). Because of unbelief at various points, but especially at Kadesh Barnea (Numbers 14), the Israelites were condemned to wander for forty years in the desert in the vicinity of Kadesh instead of immediately entering the Promised Land. Even Moses sins and is told he would not live to enter the land (Numbers 20). At the end of Numbers (Numbers 26–35) Israel moves from Kadesh to the plains of Moab opposite Jericho, ready to enter the Promised Land.

And, the Fifth and Final Book of Torah is

Devarim or Deuteronomy. Devarim, D’varim, or Debarim (ים ר ב Hebrew for “words,” the second word, and the first — ד

distinctive word, in the parashah) is the 44th weekly Torah portion (שה ר parashah) in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading and the first ,פ

in the book of Deuteronomy.

Page 4: One Year Bible Intercessors - ifapray.org 28 - One Year Bible Intercessors... · One Year Bible Intercessors... ... a very interesting journey began, ... Exodus begins the story of

Deuteronomy is a series of speeches by Moses on the plains of Moab opposite Jericho. Moses proclaims the Law (Deuteronomy 12–26), gives instruction concerning covenant renewal at Shechem (Deuteronomy 27–28) and gives Israel new laws (the "Deuteronomic Code.") At the end of the book (Deuteronomy 34) Moses is allowed to see the promised land from a mountain, but it is not known what happened to Moses on the mountain. He was never seen again. Knowing that he is nearing the end of his life, Moses appoints Joshua his successor, bequeathing to him the mantle of leadership. Soon afterwards Israel begins the conquest of Canaan. Heavenly Father, we humbly ask You to please reach out to and save, America and the nations of the world gathered together in New York City... May our fellow Americans see their sins, repent and turn to You. May they seek You and find You, with all of their hearts, minds and souls. We ask that You and Your Holy Spirit will

continue to teach us how to pray for the United States of America, for Israel and for the whole world and universe that You have created.

In Jesus' Mighty and Matchless Name we pray. Amen.

We continue to pray the Lord's Prayer each week for His Blessings

to be upon our nation, Israel and upon the whole world and universe that He has created...

Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done,

on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever and ever.

Thank you for Prayers for Israel as she and her people enter

the solemn Jewish month of Av...

And, thank you for Your prayers for the sons and daughters of Ishmael

as they complete this Monday the Islamic month of Ramadan with Eid al Fitr...the Feast of the Breaking of the Fast. May they accept and receive Your Son, Yeshua as their HaMashiach Ben David.

This Monday, July 28th, is Rosh Chodesh Av/The Feast of the New Moon, that signals the end of the Jewish Month of Tammuz, and begins the Jewish month of Av, at sundown. Rosh Chodesh is the most celebrated Special Shabbat in Judaism, as it is annually celebrated twelve times throughout the year!

Page 8: One Year Bible Intercessors - ifapray.org 28 - One Year Bible Intercessors... · One Year Bible Intercessors... ... a very interesting journey began, ... Exodus begins the story of

Rosh Chodesh/Feast of the New Moon is mentioned in several Scriptures that describe its importance... "Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning

of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings

and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: 'I am the Lord your God.'"

("Two Silver Trumpets" Numbers 10:10 NKJV)

Other Scriptural References for the The Feast of the New Moon are found in Numbers 28: 1-15, "Daily Offerings, Sabbath Offerings and Monthly Offerings," in Exodus 12: 1-2, "The Passover Instituted"; and in Psalm 81:3-4, "An Appeal for Israel's Repentance."

This week continues the 21-day solemn observance of what Jews call..."Between the Straits," or Bein Hametzarim. This has been a three-

week time of fasting, reflection and sorrow that began on Tuesday, July 15th, with the Jewish minor feast called 17th of Tammuz, or "The 17th of Tammuz," that annually commemorates the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem before the destruction of both temples.

This three-week period of mourning and fasting ends on Tuesday, August 5th, with "The Ninth of Av," or Tisha B'Av, that commemorates the destruction of the First Temple built by Solomon in 586 BC, and the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. These tragic destructions occurred about 656-years apart, and as tradition has it, both temples were destroyed on the Hebrew Calendar's Ninth Day of Av...

Hence, Tisha B'Av, or the "Ninth Day of Av," has been called the "Saddest Day in Jewish History."

For prayer strategy, here are some of the latest

Israelnationalnews.com headlines from Israel...

Fatah Declares 'Open War' on Israel The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, the so-called “military wing” of Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement, has declared an "open war" against the "Zionist enemy." In a recorded message dated July 23, three terrorists from the organization announced that the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade will not sit idly by while Israel’s operation in Gaza

continues, adding they intended to launch a campaign in Israeli territory. "The language of blood" is the only language in which to answer “the aggression of the Zionists,” the statement said, and stressed that international law grants the Palestinian Arabs the right to conduct an armed struggle “on all Palestinian lands.” All units operating under the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade were ordered to act against the "Zionist enemy," in a campaign in which "all options are open." This is an "open intifada," a spokesman for the group declared in the statement.

Page 11: One Year Bible Intercessors - ifapray.org 28 - One Year Bible Intercessors... · One Year Bible Intercessors... ... a very interesting journey began, ... Exodus begins the story of

It should be noted that it is not just Hamas that incites against Israel, but that Abbas’s PA/Fatah movement does this on a regular basis as well. Incitement in the PA includes the glorification of Nazism and the lionization of Adolf Hitler, as well as programs on official PA television featuring heavily-stereotyped Jews as villains (and encouraging violence against them), and various TV and radio shows which literally wipe the Jewish state off the map. Fathi Hammad, who served as the Interior Minister in Hamas’s government in Gaza, recently called on Fatah to join Hamas and “wage Jihad” against Israel. “This is a time to be real men, a time for determination, a time for Jihad, a time for resolution, a time to make sacrifices for the sake of Allah,” he said. The conflict in Gaza has already spread to Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria as thousands of Palestinian Arabs rioted in Qalandiya, between Jerusalem and Ramallah, on Thursday night. The riots turned into clashes when the rioters threw rocks and firebombs at IDF and Border Police officers who were on the scene. Some of the rioters opened live fire at the security forces, who responded by using riot dispersal means. Clashes also broke out at the Temple Mount, as Arabs threw rocks and targeted police with firecrackers. Two officers were lightly wounded. Ten rioters were arrested. Operation Protective Edge

Report: Hamas Losing Palestinian Arab Support in Gaza Hamas's war against Israel is not only losing militarily, but losing popular support for the Islamist group in Gaza as well, according to a study released last week. A Washington Institute study published during the first week of the

operation polled 450 Gazans between June 15-17 - before Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, but after Hamas began firing more rockets on Israel. The study, which claims to be "the only credible Palestinian poll" since Israeli teens Naftali Frenkel (16), Gilad Sha'ar (16), and Eyal Yifrah (19), hy"d, were abducted and murdered last month, reveals that 70% of Gazans believe that Hamas "should maintain a ceasefire with Israel in both Gaza and the West Bank [Judea-Samaria - ed.]." In addition, 57% of respondents supported "unity government" chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas's position that the new government should "renounce violence against Israel."

Page 12: One Year Bible Intercessors - ifapray.org 28 - One Year Bible Intercessors... · One Year Bible Intercessors... ... a very interesting journey began, ... Exodus begins the story of

Gazans are also unhappy with Hamas's handle on security - or lack thereof. Seventy-one (71%) of Gazans considered crime in Gaza to be "a significant problem"; 66.6% consider Hamas to be guilty of corruption; and 78% criticize the use of terror groups, and not a "formal security structure," to enforce law and order. Hamas was elected to power in 2007, after Israel withdrew from Gaza during the 2005 Disengagement. But most Gazans believed - even before the military operation - that the Palestinian Authority (PA)'s Fatah should be given power in Gaza, with 88% of respondents agreeing to the statement "the PA should send officials and security officers to Gaza to take over administration there." Of those, 67% who agreed "strongly agreed" to that sentiment. By contrast, the combined support for both Hamas leaders Khaled Meshaal and Ismail Haniyeh topped barely 15%. 'Most Gazans hate Hamas with a passion' Since the launch of Operation Protective Edge, experts - and civilians - say that feeling has intensified. “You need to understand that Palestinian blood has been shed by Hamas itself," a 28-year old journalist, an editor at a Gaza media outlet who asked to be kept anonymous, told Fox News on Saturday. "Living under Hamas is a tragedy." “Nobody can forgive Hamas for what they're doing," the journalist continued. "No one can forgive Hamas for butchering Palestinians to get power. Most Gazans hate Hamas with a passion." “The only reason Hamas rules Gaza is because of its ruthless iron fist and military dictatorship," he added. "We would love to have an independence from both Fatah and Hamas, who are profiting off the Palestinian people. We need to rule ourselves.” Hamas has openly boasted about the "success" of its strategy of using civilians as human shields during Operation Protective Edge, which is now ending its tenth day, and the IDF has published extensive evidence of the practice. Hamas has in the past urged Gazans to ignore warnings from the IDF about upcoming strikes, in remarks caught both on Hamas-sponsored television and on the radar of international media outlets. But most civilians are reluctant to accept this, the study's conductors insist. “The study is quite telling," the Institute's David Pollack, who conducted the survey, told Fox. "The Gazans want jobs and practical things. They don’t want war and they don’t support Hamas ideology." “And with so many Palestinians actually saying they want peace and support an immediate cease fire, it means Hamas is imposing this war against Israel on its own people,” Pollack added. The study, as well as the Fox report, may be skewed somewhat by the small sample size, as well as the inherently anti-Hamas nature of the interviewees. One of the politicians interviewed includes Jordanian-Palestinian Mudhar Zahran, for example, who has been a staunch advocate of a Palestinian state in Jordan and has written against such pro-Hamas fronts as the UNRWA, the United Nations organization which recently returned two rocket arsenals to Hamas. While Zahran's work has been hailed as an objective look at Palestinian Arab views and leadership in a sea of subjectivism, it is still unclear whether his views are shared by most Palestinian Arab politicians. However, reported unrest over wage disputes in Gaza during the same period prompted analysts in Israeli media, as well, to note that most Gazans are unhappy with the current state of affairs in the Hamas-run territory - although it is yet unclear to what extent.

Egyptian Army Destroys 13 Hamas Terror Tunnels

Egypt's army said Sunday it has destroyed 13 more tunnels connecting the Sinai Peninsula to Gaza, taking it to 1,639 as the overall number of tunnels it has laid waste to, according to Agence France Presse. In April, an Egyptian court outlawed Hamas, much like it banned the Muslim

Brotherhood earlier this year, and ordered all of its assets seized. As part of these operations, the army has also been shutting down the smuggling tunnels, which are used to transfer goods, weapons and even terrorists between the Sinai and Gaza. The UN announced last year that Egypt had destroyed as much as 80% of terror tunnels leading from Egyptian soil to Hamas in Gaza, as part of its crackdown on Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood terrorism. Egypt, meanwhile, has been surprisingly vocal during Israel's own operation to destroy Hamas terror tunnels. Since Operation Protective Edge began on July 8, Cairo has condemned Israel's ground offensive but it also lashed out at Hamas, saying the Islamist movement could have saved dozens of lives had it accepted Cairo's proposal for a cease-fire early on in the operation. Tuesday, August 5th, the commemoration of the destruction of both Jewish temples, on the same day, approximately 655-years apart.

This week's Shabbat is also known as Shabbat Chazon/Sabbath of Isaiah's Vision...This Special

Shabbat is annually observed prior to the mournful fast of Tisha B'Av/Ninth of Av, on Tuesday, August 5th... Shabbat Chazon takes its name from this week's condemning, but yet hopeful, Haftarah/Prophets reading found in Isaiah 1:1-27, in which the prophet's vision is written:

"The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem

in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah."

This Special Sabbath is one of several Special Shabbats that precede or coincide with certain annual Jewish holidays, and are recognized as fixed Jewish Shabbat days. Shabbat Chazon is designated a Special Shabbat because it immediately precedes Tisha B'Av, or the "Ninth of Av," which is the remembrance of the destruction of both Jewish Temples...The first temple, built by Solomon, was destroyed in 586 BC by the Babylonians; and the second temple, built by Herod, was destroyed in 70 AD by the Romans.

Shabbat Chazon is also called the "Black Sabbath" due to its status as the saddest Shabbat of the year. Also, there is a "White Sabbath," or Shabbat Shuvah/Sabbath of Returning, that immediately precedes Yom Kippur.

This year, Yom Kippur will be observed during Shabbat, on Saturday, October 4th.

Each Special Shabbat has a unique name, time and place in Judaism. The most common Special Shabbat is celebrated this week, Rosh Chodesh or the Sabbath of the New Moon, that signals the changing of the months in the Jewish calendar. ******* For Those New to Our One Year Bible and

Readings...Welcome!

For our faithful intercessors and readers, we have developed a "One Year Bible and Torah Readings Letter," with an attached amplified weekly Sunday-Saturday "One Year Bible" Word document that includes One Year Bible Scripture references, as well as their chapter headings. Our history is that to learn more about our Judeo-Christian roots, over four years ago, we added into the existing "One Year Bible" weekly letter, the traditional Shabbat Torah/Old Testament and Haftarah/Prophets Readings read by observant Jews worldwide. We have also included the Brit Chadashah or New Testament Readings read by Messianic Jews. This easy-to-use format gives us a "heads-up" for daily Scripture readings, and tells us what the weekly Shabbat Torah readings are for Friday and Saturday. We can read and pray through the Bible and Torah readings, and compare their teachings to world, national, state and local headlines; as well as to situations in our daily personal and business lives! Again, attached to this letter is this week's "Word" document of One Year Bible Readings amplified with chapter headings. As the Lord leads, I have highlighted key verses in purple...His color of royalty.
