SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS Secured over 80 competitive grants for the Keokuk district totaling over $12 million (Technology Literacy Challenge Grant, STAR Schools, Comprehensive School Reform, Construction, IDEA & Technology, 21st Century Learning Communities, Fire Safety, Supplemental Services, Carol M. White PE, Elementary and Secondary Guidance Counselor grant) 1997-2012. Implemented the development and use of district-wide electronic, standards-based report cards using the district student information system (PowerSchool and PowerTeacher Gradebook). Researched, adopted, and implemented the Understanding by Design curriculum framework (Jay McTighe and Grant Wiggins) district-wide including providing off-site professional development and leading on-site professional development for KCSD teachers and administrators. Worked to help pass the One-Cent Sales Tax (Fall, 1999) and the bond issue for a new middle school and an early childhood wing (December, 1999) including working on the absentee ballot activity (in the evenings) and developing the brochures given to the community. Mentored new administrators (HS principal, HS assistant principal, elementary principal, and Director of Instructional Services) to the district. Led district in numerous planning activities including strategic planning, facilities planning, district and building goal development, Board of Education goal development, and school improvement planning. Secured funding for the SUCCESS Center at the high school (4 days a week after school where HS students could go for academic assistance; center was staffed by a teacher and student tutors). Secured funding, designed, implemented and supervised a summer credit recovery program for HS students (June, 2006--51 credits earned; June, 2007--143 credits earned; June, 2008—217 credits earned; June, 2009—187 credits earned; June, 2010—237; June, 2011--13). Designed, secured funding, and implemented a before/after school program for elementary students. Secured outside funding and utilized district funding to send over 40 teachers and administrators to national curriculum-based conferences and workshops (2001 - date). Completed my Master's degree (Western Illinois University in English with an emphasis in writing). Completed my Ph.D. in English Education (University of Iowa); Dissertation topic--English department portfolios. Planned, organized and/or facilitated professional development on-site activities for Keokuk teachers and administrators (1999 - date) Sample topics: PowerGrade, grading practices, curriculum, unit development, creating rubrics. Designed and prepared annual Report to Community (2001 - date) including data collection and analysis. Led district through closure of two elementary schools (Torrence—2010, Wells-Carey—2012).
