Loken/Williams [email protected] 525-3163 ext. 135 Team 135 January 25, 2017 Parent Teacher Conferences Please read the important information regarding February Parent Teacher conferences that is included in this Wednesday’s folder. All families with kindergarten eligible children, and/or those families with whom I did not meet for conferences in October are asked to sign up for a preferred date/time. I am, however, asking all families to return the adaptive questionnaire that is part of our AEPS assessment. All families, even those who do not attend conferences, will receive an updated AEPS assessment report and progress reports from their child’s IEP goals. I am always happy to meet with families at any time should questions or concerns arise. Thank you in advance for your participation and cooperation. We are enjoying activities that go along with the theme of winter: Using a Venn Diagram to help us compare and contrast the books Let it Fall and Let it Snow. Using plastic snowmen and snowflake erasers to make an AB winter pattern (just like the pattern on our January calendar). Using large plastic tweezers to sort snowballs and peppermint candy/snowman erasers on snowman plates. Using laminated mitten cards to match pairs of mittens. Playing with an arctic set at the science table and using the arctic animals to make animal tracks in white play-dough. Dropping paint with eyedroppers onto mittens and pressing them together to make a symmetrical pair.

If you received a purple form regarding your child’s kindergarten placement for next year, please remember to complete it and return it tomorrow.

If you would like your child to participate in the Miles of Smiles dental program please complete and return the included form. If you choose to participate a team of licensed dentists, hygienists, and assistants will see your child at the ELC for a dental visit. The students who return the consent form will have the opportunity to receive a dental exam, fluoride treatment, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and educational materials. Those students that are 4 years old will have a completed dental exam that will fulfill the requirements that are expected for students entering into kindergarten. The children enjoy visiting the dentist at the ELC and this has always been a positive experience for our students. You must return completed consent forms by February 4th, 2017. See http://milesofsmilesltd.com for more information.

It’s a Friendship Celebration.

On February 14th, we will have a Friendship Celebration with our suite mates next door. This celebration will be an “Open Door” day and children will be able to choose to circulate to special activities in either room.

You are welcome to send valentine cards and candy for your child to pass out if you wish. Both our morning class and afternoon class have 10 friends.

If you would like your child to pass valentine cards, please just write his/her name stating whom it is from.

Because of food allergies we prefer not to have cupcakes or cookies, but you are welcome to send bagged candy, fruit snacks, suckers, etc, which will then be sent home along with the cards in each child’s treat bag. If you have any questions, please call.

• Tuesday February 14th-Friendship Celebration with suite mates

• Thursday February 16th-Cookie Dough Fundraiser Pick-up

• Monday February 20th-No School Presidents Day
