LJWB are currently seeking a Registered Care Home Manager for our 16 bedded care home for adults with learning disabilities in North Leeds. JOB PURPOSE:As a member of the Management Team you will contribute to and guide the strategic management of the organisation, helping to achieve LJWB’s vision, mission, aims and objectives.

To be responsible for managing one of the Residential Care Homes run by LJWB which provides 24/7 supported residential care for 16 people with learning disabilities, dementia, autism. The scheme is two homes comprising of 8 beds in each house located opposite each other.

To plan, monitor and deliver the highest standards of professional care to the people who live in the home; ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and that individual’s rights to privacy, independence and choice are met.

To support and evaluate that the care delivered always ensures that the values, policies and procedures of the service are met.

To play a key role in the development and modernisation of LJWB’s service provisions. You will ensure that the provision of services takes full account of the opportunities presented by new management approaches to grow and develop the business.

To work in close partnership with your Line Manager to develop services for adults with learning disability in line with national and local government and LJWB aspirations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

Co-ordinate and develop your learning disability residential care services in line with the service’s development plan to achieve an outstanding CQC rating.

Proactively engage the home’s teams to deliver and develop quality services to our service users – working with colleagues in other directorates to provide as varied and active independent lives as possible.

As part the organisations’ management team, contribute towards the development of services for adults with Learning Disabilities.

Responsible for reviewing internal systems and procedures to improve overall service delivery and meet quality standards.

Contribute towards the effective risk assessment process across the LD residential service.

Management and Leadership

To oversee all activities within the home and ensure that the quality of service and the support provided meets and exceeds all the requirements of the Care Quality Commission’s Fundamental Standards and the meets the standards expected by Leeds City Council.

To provide information and advice in an appropriate way to each person living in the home, their families and other carers to enable active decision making and the effective management of risk.

Support the creation of an environment of collaboration and trust, ensuring that information is shared, helping to create a positive organisational culture.

Instil a sense of professionalism and a positive image throughout the LD Residential team; reinforcing the policies and ethos that underpins the aspirations of the organisation.

Lead and motivate staff within the service: to supervise, appraise and mentor designated team members.

To deputise for your Line Manager as required in providing support and assistance to the other Learning Disabilities projects.

Quality & Development

Assist in the development of new and existing service strategies for effective and cost efficient LD Residential service management.

Ensure the understanding, awareness and implementation of existing policies in the homes, its staff and as appropriate, service users and their families or appointed representatives.

Drive the implementation and management of quality assurance systems in the scheme.

Operational Service Delivery & Project Management

To apply for and maintain your registration as Registered Manager in compliance with the Care Standards Act 2000 and all relevant CQC legislation

Compile and maintain the staff rota to ensure the efficient and effective use of skills and resources and, when necessary, organise overtime and emergency cover to meet service user needs.

To keep up to date with professional and legislative information with regard to learning disabilities and advise staff accordingly.

Ensure the implementation and monitoring of LJWB policies and practices with regard to procedures within the home.

Ensure that communication systems and all relevant documents are kept up to date in line with good practice guidance.

Prepare written reports for the CEO, Leeds City Council, CQC and LJWB committees as and when required.

Ensure that appropriate health and safety and security is maintained within the home. Supervise your staff team and provide individual supervision and appraisals on a

regular basis in line with procedural requirements. Ensure that the scheme has access to, and uses, the best current thinking and practice

in delivery of those services. Provide sleep-in duties and on call as required.

Report immediately to your line manager any defects in equipment or the working environment and report areas of risk.

Training and Development

Participate fully in training and development in accordance with the organisations training plan and mandatory requirements.

Attend and participate in supervision sessions and annual appraisal reviews. Attend and participate in staff meetings, registered care meetings and partner sessions. Contribute to the learning of other staff. Employ the skills and knowledge gained from training back into the work environment

and evidence your progression through measure of competencies in supervision with your manager.
