LITERATURE 3: (Literature, Society, Globalization and the Individual)

Course Description: A study of various literary genre as the imaginative expression of the individual writer’s experience situated thru social change and globalization.

General Objectives:1. To explore and analyze imaginative Literature in its various forms and discover the

elements of artistry that characterize each literary genre.2. To examine representative worldviews in Literary texts and encourage students to

expand their own perspectives in the light of human realities and dynamic social change.

Unit I: REVIEW OF LITERARY ELEMENTSA. Definitions of Fiction (resurfacing new styles, post-modern, avant-garde, etc),

Society, Culture, Humanities, GlobalizationB. Elements of Literature in the Short Story, Poetry, Drama and the Novel

(Note: In the course of the study, these literary modules will be discussed according to the following thematic presentations:

1. the individual and his perception of Self2. the individual and Nature3. the individual in the era of Globalization4. the individual and the Cosmic Order
