May 13 N/A – none

May 14 5-7pm

May 15 5-7pm

May 16 5-7pm

May 17 N/A – none

Students will be able to audition during those windows of time. There is no need to set up an appointment to audition.

“Do I have to audition to be in the band program?”

Current 9-11th grade students

Yes and no: No, you do not have to audition to stay in band. However, you must complete the audition as a part of your

class grade. That being said, it should be a goal for all students to work hard on this material – not just in the interest of

making Symphonic Band, but also in the interest of personal improvement.

Students that are currently in Symphonic Band: You are not guaranteed placement into this ensemble based on your

current placement. You will be adjudicated on the same level as every other student.

Current 8th graders

You do not have to complete an audition to be in the band program. Students who want to be in band but do not complete

an audition will automatically be placed in the Concert Band (woodwinds this year were in 4th period, brass were in 6th).

Percussion Students

The need for percussion students will be determined based on the literature the Symphonic Band plays. Some band pieces

require just one or two percussionists, while other pieces require a large number of percussionists. Students in the band

program will be placed accordingly for performances throughout the year. All Percussion students will be enrolled in

the percussion class. Auditions for marching band percussion (drumline and front ensemble) happen separately from

these Symphonic Band auditions.
