According to the City of Lincoln, Q4 2013 sales tax paid in Downtown was up 7.83% over Q4 2012, and overall 2013 sales tax paid in Downtown for the year was up 14.47% over the year 2012. It is clear the opening of the bypass did not have a negative impact on downtown retail sales.
