MEDIA KIT – The Clarke Prize in Advocacy and Active Citizenship Motivating students to sign up for an advocacy proposal competition About the Clarke Prize in Advocacy and Active Citizenship The Clarke prize is intended to support undergraduate students who are advocating or wish to advocate for some type of meaningful social and/or political change. The opportunity is intended to help students strengthen important professional and life skills by creating a proposal for an advocacy campaign in support of a topic related to advocacy and active citizenship. Topics might include poverty alleviation, policy change, women’s issues, student fees, indigenous issues, access to education, the environment, and many, many more. Students will be required to partake in one, one-hour information session and a one-hour advocacy workshop with advocacy professional and contest supporter, Ryan Clarke. Benefits to students: Experiential learning opportunity allowing students to expand upon theoretical advocacy or citizenship work started in a course. Experience conceiving, articulating, and communicating ideas in a professional manner. Experience crafting a proposal that highlights real issues and practical ways to work towards bringing about real change in the community. Potential to win funding to support their advocacy goals or student life and education. Page 1

About the Clarke Prize in Advocacy and Active CitizenshipThe Clarke prize is intended to support undergraduate students who are advocating or wish to advocate for some type of meaningful social and/or political change.
