Connect with the person Introduce yourself Say who referred you or mention that you came across his/her profile on LinkedIn Reason why you’re interested in talking to him/her (learn more about…?) Ask if you could set up a 1:1 informational interview in person (or by phone) Thank him/her

When you meet someone At the end ask, “Is there anything I can do to help support you?” (two-way

relationship)

Following Up Networking needs to be consistent and you need to follow up A relationship without follow up is not very effective

Q: Should my LinkedIn have the same content as your resume? A: Doesn’t have to be, you have more flexibility, develop a strong personal branding message (know who you are and what you want)

Q: Do recruiters reach out to potential candidates on LinkedIn? A: Yes, and if you put your phone number down, they might call you as well

Q: Do companies you apply to look at your LinkedIn profile? A: Yes, most of the time they do and this is helpful if there is a huge gap between the date of your application and interview

Q: What are some ways to get more visibility? A: Make connections, add more keywords, and view other people’s profiles
