Segment 1: |
• Students will begin class by taking out a sheet of paper and jotting
down 10 things that comes to mind when they think of New York.
• Students will then come up to the front of the classroom and pick
three things they wrote down and explained why they chose it to
represent New York

Segment 2: |
• Students will watch and listen to a song from Frank Sinatra
–“New York”
• Students will take 5 minutes to write down how they Frank Sinatra felt in his song
• Students will watch and listen to a song from Artist Gil Scott
Henron- “New York is Killing Me”
Students will take 5 minutes to write down how they think Gil
Scott Henron felt in his song
Homework/Extension/Reminders:
Students will go home and find a song that contains any particular state
or country in the title. Then they will write down what they felt as they
listen to the song. The next day in class students will be able to present
their song and talk about what they felt when they heard the song.
