Materials

A. HeatHeat is defined as the transfer of energy across the boundary

of a system due to a temperature difference between the system and its surroundings. Heat is of energy that can move from a certain place with higher temperature than another if the things are touched each other. Becouse of heat is one of the energy form, so the unit of heat in Internetional Standard is Joule and CGS is erg.

1 joule=107 erg1 joule=0,24 kal1kal=4,18 joule

1. The Effect of Heat on TemperatureIf one cup of hot water is mixed with a glass of cold water,

after thermal equilibrium it becomes warm water .This can occur because when the hot water is mixed with cold water then heated to release the heat so that the temperature drops and cold water absorbs heat so that the temperature increase. Thus, if there is an object that receives heat the temperature will increase. Heat is absorbed by the objects also depends mass and constituent material objects. Mathematically, it can be written as follows.

Q=mc ∆T

Keterangan:

Q=heat adsorbed /released (J )m=mass(kg)c=specific heat (J /kgoC )∆T=temperature changes (C)

These are many substances with their specific heat

From equation Q=mc ∆T , for certain object the value of mx cis a constant. The value of mx c is also called heat capacity which is given by the symbol C (with capital letter).

The heat capacity C of a particular sample is defined as the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of that sample by 1°C. Heat capacity is defined as the amount of heat adsorbed or released to change temperatur of the object of one unit of temperature. Its equation can be expressed by equation follow:

C= Q∆T

atauQ=C∆T

Notes:

Q=heat adsorbed /released (J )∆T=temperature changes (C )C=Heat Capacity(J /K )Thus, it can be seen that C=mx c.

2. The Effect of Heat to Change ShapeMelting Heat and Boiling HeatHeat absorbed by objects used for two possibilities, namely to raise the temperature or to change the form of the object. For example, when the ice melts, when the objects change shape, but the temperature of the object is not changed despite the addition of heat. Heat supplied to the ice is not used to change

Page 7: Learning Scenario Daspros 2

the temperature of the ice, but to change the form of the object. This heat is called latent heat. Latent heat is the heat needed 1 kg of the substance for changing shape.There are two kinds of latent heat, the heat of melting and boiling heat. Melting heat is the heat needed to melt 1 kg of the substance. Heat needed to melt a substance whose mass m and heat melting (L) can be formulated as follows

Q=mx L

Page 8: Learning Scenario Daspros 2

Just like heat melting, boiling heat is the heat needed to boil 1 kg substance to change its shape into vapor. This is same with heat needed for a substance to condense. Thus, the heat needed to evaporate 1 kg of water entirely same as the heat needed to condense entirely. Heat needed to vaporize a number of substances whose mass m and heat or steam boiling Lu, can be expressed as follows.

Q=mx Lu

Black PrincipleIf there are two kinds of water, with high temperature and

low temperature, are mixed into a container so they will reach the same temperature. The temperature is between the high and the low of the water. It happens because the water with high temperature gives its heat to the water with low temperature, so it will reach the same temperature. This kind of phenomenon is one of the aplication of Black Principle.

Black Principle states that The amount of heat energy given by a warm substance is the same as the amount of heat energy received by cooler substance. Mathematically it can be expressed with the following equation below.

Qlepas=Qterima

Qhigh=Qlow

mx c x ∆T high=mx c x ∆T low

Scoring for Attitude AssesmentFinal score by using rating scale 1 untill 3 Final score is being calculated by using equation below:

Score gotHighest score

×100=Final Score

The students will get :Very Good (A) : if the score 3,20 – 4,00 (80 – 100)Good (B) : if the score 2,80 – 3,19 (70 – 79)Enough (C) : if the score 2.40 – 2,79 (60 – 69)Not enough (D) : if the score less than 2.40 (less than 60)

RubricAspect

ObservedAssesment

3 2 1Choosing the tools & materials

Students choose all the right tools and material, such as:

Termometer Heater Cool water Calorimeter

Students just take a half or more than a half of the tools and materials needed, such as:

Heater Cool water Calorimeter

Students just take a less than half of the tools and material, such as:

Heater Cool water

Arranging that tools & materials

Students arrange the tools and materials correctly.Students know how to use each material.(Just do the experiment without many question asked)

Students arrange the material correctly but the don’t really know how to use that tools(Students ask question for something they don’t know)Sometimes students ask questions how to use the things for experiment

Students arrange the material randomly. They also don’t know how to use that tools(always ask teacher how to do the experiment)

Observing Students observe accurately (they repeat the experiment more than once)

Students observe accurately but they also still have a certain notes from the teacher(they observe accurate

Students don’t observe accurately (they do it just once)

Page 27: Learning Scenario Daspros 2

but they observe by doing a joke or not really serious)

Data they have got

Students can fulfill the observation table

From six datas, students only get more than 3 datas but less than complate data

Students get complate data and write it tidy but the don’t write it well (ada salah tulis)

From six datas, students only get less than 3 or only get 3 datas

Students get complate data but they dont wri it tidy and well (Tidak rapi dan ada salah penulisan)

Conclusion Based on the goals of the experiment

Some (more than 1) of the conclusions they made wrong or it doesn’t answer the goals

Mostly the conclusions don’t answer the goals (Mostly wrong)

Only one conclusions right or only one conlusions anwer the goals

B. Tools and Materials ...................... ...................... ...................... ...................... ......................

C. Methods Prepare the tools and material. Ponder mass of the hot and cold water so that it is suitable with the value in

the observation data. Measure the termperature of the hot water and write it in the column of

observation data. Measure the termperature of the cold water and write it in the column of

observation data. Mix the hot water and the cold water in the calorimeter. Close the calorimeter and stir it. Observe the temperature changing of the mixing water. Amati perubahan suhu yang terjadi pada campuran tersebut.
