LCA Newsletter \1 Redesign the Leeds College of Art Newsletter for 2010/11. The design needs to engage with creative students, age 16+, who are considering applying to study at LCA, as well as tutors. The tone is informative, factual yet light-hearted and inspiring from a design point of view. The newsletter is handed out to prospective students at UCAS fairs, careers fairs and open days. A quantity are also mailed out to tutors and career advisors. All copy and images supplied. A printed newsletter. Mandatories stated folded size must not exceed A4, contain 10-12 articles with a body copy of Helvetica, use no more than two colours plus black, and be printed on uncoatedm recycled stock. Professional printers quotes were also obtained. Brief Audience Context Resolution Colours The colours are both reflective and complementary of the College’s current promotional material and website. Type As with the colour, type is reflective of the College’s current materials, plus one other. Process Black Used for all body copy. Helvetica Used for all body copy as required. Body type is 10pt, with 12pt leading. No underline, bold or italic. Avenir LT Std Avenir is used for all headings and any other large type. Printed newsletter makes use of innovative folding conventions, while being a strong editorial piece.

The first folded size is large visual type, flipped it then displays the institution details, introduction and map. The final unfolded piece is a large, square format editorial piece with ten articles and images.

Strict grid rules allow for dropping in new content.
