WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Value of the Moment: Growth Mindset Back to School September 2020

Last week the government issued the guidance for the return to school for all pupils in September. We are currently working on our updated Return to School Plan and will share this with you once it is completed. I will also write to you next week with important information you will need to know for the return to school in September.

It is expected that all children return to school on Monday 7th September, unless the local or national rate of infection prohibits this. This includes children who have been

shielding or have family members who have been shielding, as this is due to be suspended on 1st August. If your child is under the care of a specialist health professional you may need to discuss their return to school with that health

professional before September (usually at their next planned clinical appointment) and let us know as soon as possible if they are advised not to return.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the new school year and moving forward as a learning community! - Paul Murphy

Reminder: 2020/21 School Opening Times, including Early Start for Year 6

School times will remain unchanged next year, with opening times as per the table below.

However, although we had originally planned to end the early start for Y6 children in 2020/21, in consultation with school governors we have decided to continue this next year due to the disruption to the children’s learning in 2019/20. This will help the year 6 children to catch up and be ready for secondary school and their end of year 6 SATs tests. Whilst we understand that this may cause some inconvenience to parents/carers in terms of drop off, please understand that we are doing this in the best interest of your child’s education and remember that many year 6 children travel to school unaccompanied, if their parents feel that this is safe for them.

The additional time will be used to cover missed learning from this school year and we will also be providing summer learning packs for current year 5 children to help them to get a head start over summer.

Please remember that you will need to please leave the playground as soon as your child is with their teacher, in order to aid social distancing.

Coronavirus Response Parents/Carers Survey

A huge thank you to the 34 parents/carers who completed the survey – your input is greatly appreciated.

I am really pleased to see very positive outcomes in the survey, as well as some really useful food for thought; this information will be reviewed in detail during our self-evaluation day and will inform the strengths and areas for development which we identify for

the 2020/21 School Improvement Plan. I will share more details of the results next week.

Comparison of Haringey’s weekly rate of COVID-19 confirmed cases to national and London data.

For England, this week’s rate of COVID-10 cases is 5.1 cases per 100,000, for London it is 2.3 cases per 100,000 and for Haringey it is 0.7 cases per 100,000 (down from 2.6 cases per 100,000 last week). This shows that Haringey’s infection rate continues to be

lower than both national and London rates.
