Norma Anne (Nan) Waters Morrison, CO Norma Anne (Nan) Waters, 89, of Morrison, Colo., passed away on Aug. 14, 2019. Born June 28, 1930, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Joseph and Marjorie Chenoweth Mellow Waters. A graduate of Jermyn High School, class of 1948, she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Keystone Junior College, La Plume Twp. and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Penn- sylvania State University in 1952. Her newspaper career includ- ed the Butler Eagle, where she rose from county correspondence editor to feature writer and court- house reporter. She was also a reporter for the Scranton Sunday Sun, The Carbondale Mirror and the Carbondale News, as well as co-editor, feature writer and col- umnist. For nine years she was em- ployed by the Scrantonian-Tri- bune, managing the Carbondale branch office as reporter, feature writer and columnist. Ms. Waters was also commercial continuity director for WICU-TV and radio, Erie, Pa., and advertising copy- writer for WARD Radio, Piston, and WICK Radio, Scranton. Addi- tionally, she did professional free- lance public relations for Marian Community Hospital and St. Rose Church, Carbondale. An active member of the Epis- copal Church, she served as vestry parson at both St. James, Jermyn, and Trinity Church, Carbondale. At the laer she also sang in the church choir, wrote publicity and was ECW secretary for five years. In partnership with Elinor Daley, she co-founded the church news- leer and later edited it for both Trinity and Christ Churches, For- est City. In the 1960s, with the late Sco Thurston, she co-founded for Key- stone Junior College, KEYNOTES (now Keystonian), an alumni magazine that continues to this day. She was also active in the col- lege’s alumni affairs, keeping in touch with fellow classmates and serving the same function with her JHA ‘48 reunion class. At various times she held memberships in NABET (Na- tional Association of Broadcast Engineers and Technicians), American Women in Radio and Television, American University Women, Carbondale Press As- sociation, Carbondale Histori- cal Society, Mountain Valley CB Club, Carbondale Business and Professional Women, Artisan Fire Co. Auxiliary, Jermyn; the Cursillo Community of Eastern Pennsylva- nia, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the South High Rise Asso- ciation. There she was bingo caller, publicity writer, librarian, and for a total of seven years, secretary. A sister, Jean Waters Loomis, also preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Ellen Regoord and hus- band, Greg Regoord, Golden, Colo.; and Susan Chenoweth Livsey, Katy, Texas, and husband, Gerald Livsey Jr.; two grandchil- dren, Jessica Elizabeth Livsey and Gerald William Livsey III; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Oct. 7 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St., Carbondale, Pa. Cre- mains were interred in the Jermyn Cemetery. Donald Clayton Brown Waymart Donald Clayton Brown, 74, of Waymart, PA passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morn- ing, September 29, 2019 at home. Born June 16, 1945 in De- posit, New York; he was the son of the late Harry Russell Brown and Jennie Louise Fig- ger Brown. He was married to Shirley Nolan on January 9, 1971. Don was a man of many hats and known to most as “Farmer Brown.” He served in the Unit- ed States Army from July 1963 to July 1966, stationed in Tur- key and Germany. He earned the rank of Sgt. E5. A member of Co. B 79th Engineering Bat- talion as Construction Fore- man and Heavy Equipment Operator. He earned his GED while in the Army, and was a member of the Class of 1964 at Damascus High School. He was a member of the Carpen- ter’s Union, Stroudsburg, PA from 1968 to 1971 where he worked on hotels and road construction, including I-84. Don had a dairy herd at two different farms from 1971 to 1986. He worked at Far- view State Hospital and SCI Waymart as a Security Guard/ Corrections Officer from 1984 -2012. Don was an employee of Waymart Cemetery at Ca- naan Corners from 1993 until his death. He drove school bus for Jenkins Transportation, Western Wayne School District from 1997 to 2018 until he lost the sight in his right eye. He was devoted to his fami- ly. Don was an extremely hard worker, had a big heart, and enjoyed what he did. Don is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Leroy; and his “Buddy” his pride and joy, grandson, Evan Brown; broth- ers, John Brown and Dickson Brown (his twin); sisters, Lura Schwebke, Sally Payne and Rowena Lewis; his mother-in- law, Inez Nolan; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; cousins; and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence Brown, and Carl Brown; sisters, Ma- rie Boots and Rose Branning; father-in-law, Gerald Nolan; brothers-in-law, Thomas No- lan, Bernie Boots, and Paul Lewis; and nephew, Randy Nolan. Butler, 95, formerly of Vandling, died Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Gardens of Green Ridge, Scranton. His wife of 67 years is the former Anna Glushko. Born in Vandling, he was the son of the late David and Mercy Cox Butler and a graduate of Vandling High School. David en- listed and served in the United States ArmyAir Corps during World War II, where he was a lead mechanic on B-24 bombers sta- tioned in Italy. David was employed for many years by Greyhound, working his way up from a driver to retiring as secretary-treasurer for the union in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a member of St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church, Jermyn. He is also survived by a son, David Butler and wife, Susan, Las Vegas; a daughter, Dr. Cyn- thia Mancini, Franklin, Tenn.; four grandchildren; nieces and neph- ews. Jane (Mandel) Erdmann Blooming Grove Jane (Mandel) Erdmann, age 89, of Blooming Grove died Friday, September 27, 2019 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Edward Erdmann. Born December 19, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daugh- ter of the late Charles Henry and Jane Lydia (Vicary) Mandel. For- merly of Brentwood, NY, she had worked for Parker-Gull wiring pumps for airplanes. A Blooming Grove resident for the last 30 years, she loved going to Mt Airy and Mohegan Sun Casi- nos where they knew her on a first name basis. Always up for a good time, good food and parties with family and friends, she loved her poodles, especially Jack. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Barbara Gallagher of Kings Park, NY and Carol Hazen of Bloom- ing Grove; a daughter-in-law: Sarah Bartgis of Elizabethtown, NY; three step-daughters: Kathy Erdmann of Carbondale, Debra Curley of Pleasant Mount, and Leeanna Erdmann of East Hamp- ton, NY; one step-son: Mark Erd- mann of Browndale; and many grandchildren, great grandchil- dren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. of Morrison, Colo., passed away on Aug. 14, 2019. Born June 28, 1930, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Joseph and Marjorie Chenoweth Mellow Waters.

Jane (Mandel) Erdmann

Blooming GroveJane (Mandel) Erdmann, age 89,

of Blooming Grove died Friday, September 27, 2019 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Edward Erdmann.

Born December 19, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daugh-ter of the late Charles Henry and Jane Lydia (Vicary) Mandel. For-merly of Brentwood, NY, she had worked for Parker-Gull wiring pumps for airplanes.

A Blooming Grove resident for the last 30 years, she loved going to Mt Airy and Mohegan Sun Casi-nos where they knew her on a first name basis. Always up for a good time, good food and parties with family and friends, she loved her poodles, especially Jack.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Barbara Gallagher of Kings Park, NY and Carol Hazen of Bloom-ing Grove; a daughter-in-law: Sarah Bartgis of Elizabethtown, NY; three step-daughters: Kathy Erdmann of Carbondale, Debra Curley of Pleasant Mount, and Leeanna Erdmann of East Hamp-ton, NY; one step-son: Mark Erd-mann of Browndale; and many grandchildren, great grandchil-dren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Charles Bartgis; step-son, Scott Erdmann; a sister, Ruth Ei-den; two brothers, Charles and Robert Mandel; and a grand-daughter, Susan Carol Casey.

Arrangements by Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral was Oct. 4 at First Presbyterian Church of Hawley, 815 Church St., Hawley, with Rev. William Samford, Pastor officiat-ing.

Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

We thank ev-eryone who helped in any way for the lunch after the services. I was comforting to see the support of everyone who attended his servic-es. He truly loved his family and friends in the community. We will cherish all the good memories you have shared with us.

We thank the Northern Wayne ambulance, all the doctors who cared for him, Wayne Memorial and Wilson Hospitals and their intensive care units for their care when needed.

Tony often said when he grad-uated high school he wanted to get married and become a dairy farmer. He served two years in the Army. He then accomplished his dream to become a dairy farmer and raise his family on the farm he loved so much in Preston Park.

is seeking bids for the removal of snow from Metered park-ing spots, around meters and snow piled on curbs in the 300, 400, 500 & 600 Blocks of Main Street (wherever there is me-tered Parking) for the conve-nience of the local businesses and customers. The bid will also cover the plowing and re-moval of snow in front of and alongside the borough build-ing at 535 Main Street. Owner/operator of snow removal equipment is required to have liability insurance and will be responsible for the cost of any and all damage to meters, Streetlamps/posts, curbs, side-walks or public and private property. Proof of liability In-surance and workers’ compen-sation must be submitted with the bid. Bids must be sealed and marked “Main Street Snow Removal and Plowing”. Sealed bids must be received in the Borough Office by 5:00 p.m. on October 21, 2019. The Bid must include a list of equipment to be used, the rate by linear foot and hourly rate (time to complete may vary by accumulation). Bids will be opened at a “Special Meet-ing” on October 21, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Forest City Borough building at 535 Main Street, Forest City, PA.
