KUNDALINI SADHANA

Kundalini Meditation is an ancient Tantric spiritual practice that allows each individual

to deeply experience their own direct, inner connection to the Divine. This teaching

focuses on awakening “kundalini”— the Divine energy that is always present, already within every human being.

As we stay attuned to this vital force, we experience a profound growth that leads to love and spiritual fulfillment in our lives.

The essence of this practice is about finding that sacred space within where the individual heart is merged into the heart of the Divine

— revealing our total unity with Divinity.

Trika is one of the major schools of non-dualist Shaivism. Trika refers to the triad

of Consciousness, Energy and the Individual

— three expressions of an undifferentiated Unity. Anuttara Trika was recognized as the highest form of Shaivism by the non-dualist

teachers who taught in ancient Kashmir.

TrikaShala, which means “Trika School,” offers an in-depth, experiential approach to

the teachings and practices of Anuttara Trika.

“Swami Khecaranatha’s teachings coincide with

the Trika school of Shaivism. He has attained a

deep understanding of the teachings of Anuttara

Trika through the transmission of his teachers,

a lifetime of practice, profound personal

experience, and selfless service.”

THE LINEAGE The Unbroken Transmission of A Living Spiritual Force

The most significant teachers of this lineage are Bhagavan Nityananda and

Swami Rudrananda (Rudi).

Bhagavan Nityananda, whose name means "bliss of the eternal,” lived in India from around the turn of the 20th century until 1961. Nityananda was well known and is revered to this day as one of the greatest saints who ever lived in India.

In its pure essence, Nityananda’s teaching is profoundly simple—to live within the

heart of the divine; to merge the individual heart into the universal heart.

Swami Rudrananda met Nityananda at the age of 30—an experience Rudi often called the transformative moment of his

life. Rudi’s potent and life-changing teachings are based on the cultivation of a deep wish to grow and the transmission of shaktipat from the teacher. Through disciplined inner practice, our wish to grow evolves into a profound state of

surrender and the experience of our own divinity. Though Rudi died in 1973, the

essence and vitality of his dynamic teachings are still directly accessible

through Swami Khecaranatha.

THE PRACTICE

Kundalini is the Energy of the Divine as it is Experienced in the Individual.

Kundalini binds us when we project its energy into the world and yet, kundalini

liberates us when we return this energy to its divine origin. Our practice focuses on the raising of the kundalini from the chakra at the base of the spine to the chakra in the crown of the head—awakening a powerful transformative energy. This energy has the

capacity to wash away our deepest tensions, to expand the flow of creative energy and consciousness within us, and to eliminate

our misunderstandings about our true nature.

SHAKTIPAT The Direct Transmission

of Spiritual Energy

Tantric practices recognize that spiritual freedom is realized through our own inner practice and the transmission of energy (shaktipat) from a teacher that awakens the kundalini energy. Shaktipat means

the descent of grace—a important presence in the awakening of the kundalini. It is the fire that ignites the rising of the kundalini.

The eyes-open class is the primary method in our practice that allows for the direct transmission of spiritual energy from the

teacher. Eyes open class allows us to make authentic contact with that subtle inner force. In class you are establishing a flow between yourself and the teacher, deeply internalizing that energy to create a direct

connection to your inner Self.

THE TEACHER A Source of Nourishment

and Support for Spiritual Growth

An authentic teacher is someone who has studied with a real master, and has spent

years ardently practicing the teaching transmitted by that master. Such an experienced teacher has cultivated a

one-pointed focus and deep understanding of the highest power that dwells within each person, and continuously demon-strates that creative power of spirit.

The role of the teacher is two-fold: to arouse the creative power of Life already

present within us, and then to support us as this power unfolds. The teacher is the well from which we draw a pure vitality which facilitates our process of transformation.

Swami Khecaranatha (Nathaji) With a mastery etched from over four decades of disciplined inner practice and selfless

service, SwamiKhecaranatha is an authentic adept of Tantric Shaivism in the shaktipat

lineage of Bhagavan Nityananda and Swami Rudrananda (Rudi). Khecaranatha began

practicing with Rudi in 1971 and was initiated as a teacher of Kundalini sadhana in 1972. In 2002 he took vows of sannyas

to formally affirm his unconditional dedication to serving the Divine.
