Street Foods Project holds Research Dissemination Workshop

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) as part of the Ghana Street Food Project has organised a Research Dissemination Workshop to educate stakeholders within the Kumasi Metropolitan Area. The workshop is based on findings of research conducted within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and Tema Municipal Area. February, 2016. Department Of Food Science Holds Conference on Food FraudThe Department of Food Science and Technology of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in collaboration with Litfahm Consultancy Services held the first National Conference on Food Fraud on the 27th of January, 2016. The conference was on the theme “Combating Food Fraud: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach”. International Books for Development Donates Books to KNUST LibraryThe International Books for Development, a working group of the International Organization for Chemical Sciences in Development has donated two hundred boxes of books and classroom fittings estimated at $30,000 to the University Library. German Ambassador Visits KNUSTThe German Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Rüdiger John with his team has paid a working visit to KNUST. He was accompanied by his spouse. He stated that the visit formed part of field trips he was embarking on. These field trips would offer him and his team more ideas, engagements and the opportunity to explore more partnerships.

He stated that it would help him and his team to examine the challenges and problems in the areas visited to help his office offer the necessary assistance. ImPLemeNTATION OF KNUST STAFF PeRFORmANCe APPRAISAL

It is announced for the information of the University Community and all staff that the sale of admission forms for 2016/2017 for entry into the Basic Schools will start from 1st February 2016 to 29th April, 2016. The price of each admission form is GH¢10.00.

Forms can be obtained from the Basic Schools’ Accounts office at the Junior High School (JHS). All completed forms must be returned to the Administrative Assistant at the Basic Schools Office at the Junior High School.

Vacancies exist only at the Lower Nursery 1 and the Day Care. For the Day Care Centre, the child must be at least 2 years. The age limits for entry into the Nursery School are between 3 years 9 months and 4 years 8 months by 30th September, 2016.

No admissions would be made to Nursery 2 and for the Primary School.

The closing date for submission of completed application forms is 29th April, 2016. Without completion of admission forms no admission request would be entertained.

ImPLemeNTATION OF KNUST STAFF PeRFORmANCe APPRAISAL

As discussed at various fora in the University, Staff Performance Appraisal (PA) is being implemented University-wide with immediate effect. The implementation is in line with the University’s vision, mission and core values and the quest to promoting staff development for quality, efficiency and effectiveness. To this end, the six under-listed categories of appraisal forms have been uploaded at the Human Resource Department (HRD) and the Quality Assurance and Planning Unit (QAPU) sections of the University website.

• Peer-Teaching Evaluation

• Annual PA for Senior Members (Adm. /Prof )

• Annual PA for Deputy Head teacher

• Annual Appraisal for Head teacher

• Annual Appraisal for Teachers

• Performance Appraisal - Senior & Junior Staff

The assessment will include all staff of the University, namely: Academic Senior Members, Administrative / Professional Senior Members, Senior and Junior Staff, as well as staff in position of additional responsibility.

The Performance Appraisal policy is being implemented in consonance with all other policies of the University and Labour laws, and shall be reviewed from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the University. Among other benefits, it will serve as a basis for promotion of staff, record of achievements over the years, and a tool for identifying staff training and development needs.

It is hoped that all staff will strive to ensure the smooth implementation and success of the programme to help KNUST to maintain her enviable status of excellence.
