Kindergarten and 1st grade Science

Project Ideas

Easy and Fun

In our school, Science Fair participation was only for students of 3rd, 4th, and

5th grade. But from this year we will be also conducting science fair for KG, 1st

and 2nd Grades.

Some parents and teachers have expressed their concern that the projects for

K-2 levels are mostly done by adults and kids participation is minimal as kids in

this age group do not completely understand the concepts.

However I think science experiments should be done at all ages and could be

made such that the kids participation and interest can be developed at earlier

stage.

The idea is to have Guided Science project for the younger kids.

Introduction

I have prepared a list of sample projects that are just right for the

kindergarteners as well as 1st grade.

The projects I have selected are doable by the KG and 1st graders and most are

based on their curriculum. Most of the project material can be found in your

homes. There are innumerable ideas that could be compiled as needed and can be

found through the online resources.

With collective efforts and with parent volunteers we can come up with lots

similar projects ideas to make this a very successful event.

This will also be helpful in getting us parents involved in school activities.
