Women Critical Illness Rider

INTRODUCTIONWake up at six. Get the kids packed off to school. Pack lunch

boxes for you and your spouse. Get ready for work. Travel to

and from work. Have a hectic and energy sapping day. Get

home, cook a meal. Have dinner and send the kids to bed. As

a woman of today, you end up doing a lot more without

realising the toll that it takes on your health. Today more

than ever, you, as a woman are susceptible to a lot more

illnesses.

Presenting the Aegon Life Women Care CI, a rider that can

be attached to the base plan so that health worries are the

last thing on your mind. As the old adage goes, “If there is

health, there is hope. If there is hope, there is everything.” So,

when you keep your health issues covered, you can do and

care more for your loved one and nurture the hope for a

better life; a life that is in pace with the fast world.

BENEFIT STRUCTUREThe Aegon Life Women CI Rider covers illnesses pertaining

to women. On being diagnosed with any of the covered

illness a certain percentage of the base plan Sum Assured will

be paid. The illnesses covered under this rider are classified

into 2 groups viz. Group 1 & Group 2. When applying for this

rider, both the groups (Group 1 & Group 2) will be provided

subject to the eligibility conditions for each group. The illness

covered and the benefit amounts are as below:

You can claim only once under each benefit group

throughout the Policy Term. Once the claim is made under

any group, the subsequent premium will be reduced by an

amount equal to the premium for the claimed group.

This rider does not provide any benefit on death of the Life

Assured or on maturity of the rider or on surrender of the

rider.

OTHER FEATURESFree Look Cancellation:

If you are not satisfied with any of the terms and

conditions of the Policy, you may return the Policy

document to the Company for cancellation within:

n 15 days from the date you received it, if your Policy is

not purchased through Distance marketing*

n In case purchased through distance marketing*, 30 days

from the date you received the Policy

On cancellation of the Policy during the freelook period,

we will return the premium paid subject to the deduction

of:

a) Stamp duty paid and

b) Expenses borne by the Company on medical

examination, if any

The Policy will terminate on payment of this amount and

all rights, benefits and interests under this Policy will stand

extinguished.

*Distance marketing: Distance marketing includes every

activity of solicitation (including lead generation) and sale

of insurance products through the following modes: (i)

Voice mode, which includes telephone-calling (ii) Short

Messaging service (SMS) (iii) Electronic mode which

includes e-mail, internet and interactive television (DTH)

(iv) Physical mode which includes direct postal mail and

newspaper & magazine inserts and (v) Solicitation through

any means of communication other than in person.

Option to attach or detach Rider Benefit:

The rider can be added anytime during the Policy year and

the rider can be detached from the next premium due

date after the request has been made. Addition of riders

will be subject to underwriting requirements.

Rider Premium:

The premium rate for this rider will depend upon the age

at entry and the Sum Assured under the base plan.

Rider premium is sum total of premium for group 1

benefit and group 2 benefits. After age 40 premium

applicable only for group 1 benefits will be charged.

Company may change the premium rates on fifth policy

anniversary after clearance of revised rates from IRDAI

and the new premium rates will be guaranteed for next

five years.

Advance Premium:

Advance installment premium will be accepted only for

premium due date with in the same financial year. The

premium so collected in advance shall only be adjusted on

the due date of the premium.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Definitions:

n Malignant Cancer of the Female Organs: Lump sum

benefits as per the Sum Insured will be payable on diagnosis of any Malignant Cancer of the following

female Organs:

Breast Cervix Uteri Corpus Uteri • • •

• • • Ovary Vulva Vagina

Fallopian Tube•

Definition of Cancer: A malignant tumor characterized by

the uncontrolled growth and spread of malignant cells

with invasion and destruction of normal tissues. This

diagnosis must be supported by histological evidence of

malignancy and confirmed by a pathologist. The term

cancer includes leukemia, lymphoma and sarcoma.

n Birth of child with Congenital Disorders/Surgeries:

Lump sum benefits as per the Sum Assured will be payable

on occurrence of the following events to the child:

Open Heart Surgical Repair of ASD•

Open Heart Surgical Repair of VSD•

Surgical Repair of Tetralogy of Fallot•

Surgical Repair of Transposition of Great Vessels•

Confirmed diagnosis of the Down's syndrome•

n Pregnancy Complications:

Lump sum benefits as per the Sum Assured will be payable

on Pregnancy related Complications as specified below:

On diagnosis of Disseminated Intravascular •

Coagulation (DIC) during pregnancy

On diagnosis of Molar Pregnancy•

On undergoing hysterectomy due to Post partum •

hemorrhage

Definition of Open Heart Surgical Repair:

The actual undergoing of open-heart valve surgery is to

replace or repair one or more heart valves, as a

consequence of defects in, abnormalities of, or disease-

affected cardiac valve(s). The diagnosis of the valve

abnormality must be supported by an echocardiography

and the realization of surgery has to be confirmed by a

specialist medical practitioner. Catheter based techniques

including but not limited to, balloon

valvotomy/valvuloplasty are excluded.

Other Terms & Conditions:

• Service tax on premiums will be payable as per the

applicable tax laws.

• Premium due dates will be the same dates as for the

base plan.

• If a due premium is not paid within the grace period,

the rider will lapse

• The lapsed rider may be reinstated as per the terms

and conditions applicable to reinstatement of the base

plan to which it is attached and the reinstatement

happens along with the base plan.

• Reinstatement period is 2 years from the date of first

unpaid premium. If the rider is not reinstated alongwith

the base Policy, then reinstatement of rider is not

allowed at a later stage. However, a new rider can be

added.

• Sum Assured cannot be changed during the term of the

rider.

Waiting Period

There is a waiting period of 180 days waiting period for

benefits under Group 1 and 1 year for benefits under

Group 2.

Exclusions

• Malignant Cancer of the Female Organs

• Carcinoma-in-situ or tumours histologically

described as pre-malignant or non-invasive including

but not limited to carcinoma-in-situ of the breasts,

Cervical Dysplasia: CIN-1, CIN-2 and CIN-3; vaginal

intra-epithelial neoplasia (VAIN) & Vulvar intra-

epithelial neoplasia (VIN)

• All tumours and cancers in the presence of HIV

infection or conditions due to any Acquired Immune

Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) All tumours that have

metastasized from organs other than the breast,

fallopian tube, cervix, ovarian, uterus, vagina and

vulva.

• Birth of child with Congenital Disorders/Surgeries:

• Benefit will not be payable for children born before

the policy is taken or within 1 year of policy

commencement.

Birth of child with congenital disorder or •

complication arising when life assured is a carrier of

surrogacy pregnancy is not covered. Benefit is

payable on surgery before age of 18 yrs for the

child subject to policy being in force.

Age of the life assured at delivery of the child •

ASSIGNMENT AND NOMINATION

Assignment: Allowed as per section 38 of the Insurance

Act 1938 as amended from time to time

Nomination: Allowed as per section 39 of the Insurance

Act 1938 as amended from time to time

Prohibition of Rebates

Section 41 of the Insurance Act, 1938 (as amended from

time to time) states: 1) No person shall allow or offer to

allow, either directly or indirectly, as an inducement to

any person to take out or renew or continue an

insurance in respect of any kind of risk relating to lives or

property in India, any rebate of the whole or part of the

commission payable or any rebate of the premium shown

on the policy, nor shall any person taking out or renewing

or continuing a policy accept any rebate, except such

rebate as may be allowed in accordance with the

published prospectuses or tables of the insurer.

2) Any person making default in complying with the

provision of this section shall be punishable with fine,

which may extend to Rs. 10 Lakh.

Non-Disclosure

Section 45 of the Insurance Act, 1938 (as amended from

time to time) states:

1) No Policy of Life Insurance shall be called in question

on any ground whatsoever after expiry of 3 yrs from the

date of date of policy i.e. from the date of issuance of

policy or the date of commencement of risk or the date

of revival of policy or the date of rider to the policy,

whichever is later.

2) On the ground of fraud, a policy of Life Insurance may

be called in question at any time within 3 years from the

date of issuance of policy or the date of commencement

of risk or the date of revival of policy or the date of rider

to the policy, whichever is later. For this, the insurer shall

have to communicate in writing to the insured or legal

representative or nominee or assignees of insured, as

applicable, mentioning the ground and materials on which

such decision is based.

time to time).
