2. Objective: As a class, students will gain knowledge on the structure and life cycle of aplant using a power point presentation. Students will understand that plants have a lifecycle that includes sprouting; developing roots, stems, leaves, and flowers; reproducing;and eventually dying.TEKS:(10) Organisms and environments. The student knows that organisms resemble theirparents and have structures and processes that help them survive within theirenvironments. The student is expected to: (B) identify parts of plants such as roots, stem, and leaves (D) observe changes that are part of a simple life cycle of a plant: seed, seedling, plant, flower, and fruit. 3. How do plants grow? Life cycle shows how aliving thing grows, changes, andreproduces. 4. What do plants need to grow? Water Soil Sun-All provide nutrients the plant needs to grow 5. Seed Seed- a plant part thatholds the embryo.Seed Coat - Protects the inside ofthe seed.Embryo - the beginning of thenew plant.Stored Food - a plant uses storedfood until it grows leaves that canmake food. 6. More Seeds 7. Germination Germination - theprocess of growing anew plant from aseed 8. Sprout-A sprout uses water and nutrientsfrom the soil along with sunlightand air to grow and change into a seedling. 9. Seedling A seedling is a smallplant with a few leaves. 10. Adult Plant/Flower Produces spores orflowers Flowers pollinate andturn into a fruit withseeds inside. 11. Pollination When pollen from thestamen moves to thepistil, the flowerbecomes pollinated. This is how seeds arecreated. Wind Insects (bees) Birds 12. Lets Watch.. Roots The root holds the plantin the ground It absorbs water andnutrients. 15. Stem The stem supports theleaves and the flowers. Transports water andnutrients to the plant(flower). 16. Leaves The leaf uses the energyfrom the sun to createfood for the plant, through a process calledphotosynthesis. 17. Flower The flower helps theplant reproduce. The flower creates andcarries the seed.
