May our summer be blessed with joy and renewal. I share this prayer with you to ask for God’s blessing on all the summer may bring: Creator of all, thank You for summer! Thank You for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight. Thank You for the beauty I see all around me and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation. Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family, and for the more casual pace of the summer season. Draw me closer to You this summer. Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing. Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence and light my path with Your Word and Counsel. As I enjoy Your creation, create in me a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for You. Amen. HAPPENINGS at FIRST UMC

First UMC Steeple Projectby Christina Eddy, Business Administrator It will be an exciting June for the church steeple! In 1953, with Roy E. Naylor as Church Charge Lay Leader and Chairman of the Official Board, the tower was built and elicited much comment from throughout the area. Its uniqueness has always been in its 147 foot height while only 12 feet square at the base. It was built as such with palm trees and brilliant flood lighting to mark First United Methodist Church as to become “one of the must places to be seen in the community.”

Sixty four years later, the Trustees have knocked on the doors of Naylor Paint and contracted with KC Restoration/Naylor Paint to restore the beloved steeple. It will take approximately one month this summer in the hopes that it will be restored to its original beauty.

A special thank you to Anson Nordby, Trustee, who will manage the project. And a special thank you to Todd Erlandson, Trustee Aesthetic Consultant, for color choice.

Should you wish to donate to this beautification effort, please let the church office know. The cost is approximately $45,000 and funding sources will be provided equally by the Foundation, Trustees, and Operating budget (including special gifts).

Cathedral Spires

Cathedral spires tower high aboveLike beacons in the night. They beckon oft to lonely soulsFrom their stupendous height.

Like monuments these lofty spires,On churches far and wide,Tell the victory of the crossWhere Christian folk abide.

They typify the hopes and dreams,The faith of men in GodDevotion to His way of lifeOn earth where Jesus trod.

May our summer be blessed with joy and renewal. I share this prayer with you to ask for God’s blessing on all the summer may bring:

Creator of all, thank You for summer!Thank You for the warmth of the sunand the increased daylight.Thank You for the beauty I see all around meand for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation.

Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family, and for the more casual pace of the summer season.Draw me closer to You this summer.Teach me how I can prayno matter where I am or what I am doing.Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presenceand light my path with Your Word and Counsel. As I enjoy Your creation, create in mea pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for You.Amen.

Blessings,
