“FAREWELL AND ADIEU: LAST WORDS FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL”

Another school year closes, and on behalf of our Staff and School Council, we wish to thank all

parents and members of our community for supporting our children’s learning, extra curricular

activities and faith journeys. All of our students can be proud of their achievements in all areas of

school life – sports, academics, faith and special events.

I wish to welcome Mrs. Bumbacco– Sodaro to the St. Elizabeth School Community as your new

Principal (formerly of St. Francis Catholic School in Cambridge) . She is excited to have been

assigned here and is looking forward to meeting you in the upcoming months. I have told her

many wonderful things about our school community.

As for my leaving and retirement, I can honestly say I have truly enjoyed my 30 years as an

educator and Principal in five different schools predominantly with the Waterloo Catholic District

School Board. The time has been spent doing what I love and most of all meeting wonderful

people that have supported me along the way—students, staff, parents, school councils,

administration, parish staffs. I could not have done it without the support of these great people.

As for the St Elizabeth Catholic School Community , I can only attest to the fine job you as

parents have done with your children. They have been respectful while displaying a mature

sense of who they are as individuals. They have shown a great enthusiasm for all the initiatives

we have done throughout the last three years. Continue to support them in being the best

persons they can be. To the staff , I have truly loved working with a group of hard– working

professionals who have the best interests of our students and school community at heart. I

thank them for the time and energy they have dedicated to making the school a great place to

be. To our School Council, thanks for all your support in the initiatives we have provided these

past years. You have displayed tremendous energy and commitment to creating and supporting

great activities and events for our students and parents , in bringing them together as a

community and keeping our school environment current with 21st Century learning.

I wish you many blessings and prayers as a Catholic school community and that you continue to

thrive in the years ahead while ensuring your commitment to faith –based education rooted in

our Gospels. It truly makes a difference in the lives of our students and your children. Hoping I

run into many of you once again on the new journey.

Continue to Be Safe and Healthy and God Bless.

Sincerely,

Mr. L. Pellizzari, Principal

A FATHER’S DAY PRAYER

St. Elizabeth School 2017-18 Yearbook

St. Elizabeth has produced a 2017—2018 School yearbook. It will be

approximately 100 pages, 8-1/2” by 11, coil bound book featuring pictures

of all classes and some special activities that happened over the school

year. A number of pages are dedicated to our Gr. 8 graduating class. We

have ordered a quantity of 130 copies only of this yearbook which will be

sold for $25.00 a copy until June 15. Purchase can only be made through

Cash Online beginning June 4.

Please check out the order information on the flyer attached to

this newsletter

Thanks to Mrs. Miller and her year-long work at creating this book of

special events and memories of the year.

ST. ELIZABETH CATHOLIC SCHOOL DRESS CODE REMINDER

We know its June and the weather is delightful. But students are required to dress in a manner that reflects school

as a place of learning. While we recognize the right of parents and children to express themselves through their

clothing, we must reserve the right to have the final say regarding the appropriateness of any clothing worn at

school. At school, students are expected to dress neatly and modestly. Below are some guidelines that we would

like staff and students to adhere to: shirts or blouses will cover the torso and shoulders completely (no spaghetti

straps or halters, or muscle shirts, no “underarms” exposed .No midriff showing . Shorts and skirts need to be

modest (mid-thigh or longer)- at the end of finger tips when arm is at the side. No short “Shorts” please!!!!! Let’s

make our learning environment including our playground a respectable place to be. Thank you for your support in

this area.

MISSON DAY FUN FAIR!

It is that time of year again. Mission Day Fun Fair is taking place the afternoon of Wednesday, June 13th. Advance ticket sales will be starting on Monday June 4

th until Monday, June 11

th (in

your child’s classroom). The average cost of an activity station is 2-4 tickets. Tickets will cost 5 for

$1.00. Tickets will also be available to purchase on the afternoon of Mission Day Fun Fair however; it is

highly suggested that your child purchase tickets in advance to avoid long line-ups. Donations for the

Candy Sale, Bake Sale, and Cake Raffle are happily accepted, as well as gently used items for the

"White Elephant" Garage Sale. Please see additional information letters being sent home with your child

regarding donations to our Raffle table and Raffle baskets. Lastly, if you would like to volunteer to run an

activity station that afternoon, we would greatly appreciate your help. Any questions can be forwarded to

Mrs. Gorman or Mrs. Evans. This year our proceeds will be divided among the following charities and

initiatives: Lisaard House/Innisfree House Hospice for Palliative Care in Cambridge and “Mom to Mom

Africa” which provides education to youth at the CHETI School and professional training for teachers in

Africa, and “Hope for People” providing education to youth in Haiti.

Parents are more than welcome to attend and walk around with their children. This is especially needed for our younger students (more information from our Kindergarten teachers regarding this routine will follow).

NEWS FROM OUR PASTOR : SCHOOL YEAR CLOSING WORDS

It seems as if I wrote the introductory message for the school newsletter only yester-day, and yet, nine months have passed, and here we are entering June and with it the end of the School Year. Time passes quickly, and yet the blessings can speed by just as quickly if we don’t take the time to reflect upon them with gentleness and joy. As this school year comes to an end - who do you wish to thank for the blessing which have been part of this time?

Certainly our teachers and support staff at the school are on the list; their dedication in and outside the classrooms of our parish school are invaluable and have helped each of the children grow. Our thanks go to our principal and administrative staff for the leadership they have given which have opened many doors of opportunity. Our school councils and volunteer parents get kudos for sure, they have added so much to the lives of our children. The children themselves, who have striven all year to do the right thing and to learn from the moments when they have not, deserve a pat on the back with a moments doubt. The list is endless, and certainly personal. Can I add one how-ever that sometimes gets forgotten; Our Heavenly Father.

In each passing day, in every lesson, in all sadness and success - He has been there. Not just watching the time, but watching over it. Our Heavenly Father has been that Guest who has gently lead us thru the passages of time this year - for surely we did not do it alone.

As we enter the summer months don’t forget to make time for Him. To thank Him for the blessings and for the time we have. Sundays continue to be the Lord’s Day, in which we honour the Lord and also seek His help and protection. It is in being nour-ished by a community of prayer that we find the strength to climb the hills and walk the paths that the times of life bring.

May the Blessings of the Lord truly be ones we rejoice in as we come to the conclu-sion of the this time called our school year, and may they also be the ones we seek as we begin the time of these coming summer months together.
