The following is the final quote of the Introduction in the 2018 ZO Scripture Worship Calendar by Brother Gary Whiting.
Introduction continued:
The wording of Section 85 is very useful in understanding what the word comprehend is saying. Jesus is being described in the passage. It says he has de-scended below all things and he has ascended above all things. There is noting which is beyond him or his grasp. At his death, Jesus destroyed the gates of hell. He knows the place and had de-feated it. He ascended to the highest place is a description of
his divinity and as God is sit ing in the place of glory and reigns over everything. There is nothing that does not come under his reign.
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He who descend-ed, is the same also who ascended up into heaven, to glorify him who reigneth over all heavens, that he might fill all things.) (Ephesians 4:8-10).

he is larger than all of creation. He holds it all, sustains all of it, supports all of it and en-dures as the one who is able to do this. Like the light, there is nothing in the temporal or spiritual world that is not fully depend-ent upon the power and person of Jesus Christ. When Jesus says he is the light of the world, he is speaking of more than simply being a person who possesses a body of special knowledge. He means that there is no life without him and to reject that light is to subject oneself to death. One of the important aspects of this study to help us under-stand Jesus as the judge of all things. He created the earth, the heavens and the people who inhabit the earth, but he also created or made provision for the judgment and degrees of glory or no glory that are meted out to people at the time of judgement. When Section 85 speaks about Jesus as the power of the sun, moon and stars, the refer-ence is not simply to the object that inhabit the heavens of the current, temporal universe. While confessing that Jesus is indeed Lord over these things it is, more importantly, saying he is Lord over the glories of reward of which the sun, moon and stars are representative. He is the light of the eternal rewards and he measures to each of them the measure of light which the Father has de-creed to be present in them. The present physical universe is a sign to help us understand the various glories awaiting the children of men. They are the pictures illustrating the gospel
then played two pieces of music, a sacred piano solo and a flute solo. The flute piece, "Carmen Fantasie" by Bizet/Borne, was accompanied by her cousin Heidi Wiskur. Speeches were presented by her parents, Dwight and Pam, and Anna offered her thank yous. At the con-clusion of the ceremony, Anna's diploma was pre-sented to her. Many family and friends attended in support of the occasion. Following the ceremony, a recep-tion was held in the fellowship hall. Congratulations, Anna, on a job well done! Pictured below a sever-al of the immediate family mem-bers that attended the celebration event: Jacob, Claire Loyd, Naomi, Anna, Pam, Joel, Dwight & Brent Burford.
Anna's future plans involve pur-suing an associate’s degree in den-tal hygiene. Anna, your brothers and sisters at Zion’s Outpost congratulate you on your accomplishments and will be praying for you as you move into a new life adventure of education.
Summer Activities: There are sev-eral youth camps and reunions for all ages available this summer. Please be prayerful concerning these events and attend one or two if possible; great fellowship awaits you. story and our response to the light. Just as the visible spectrum of light seen by the human eye is a relatively narrow band that is dwarfed by the entire spectrum of light in the world, so the meaning of Jesus as the Light of the World is a broad and deep concept which most of us only see very narrowly. The goal of this year’s study is to begin to expose our hearts, minds and souls to a deeper and more critical and discerning understanding of this most important concept. Many parts of God’s creation simply respond unquestion-ingly to the ministry of light given to them. When the proper wavelength of light shines on certain minerals they glow. Plants produce food, shelter and oxygen for us under the influence of the light. But, we can choose the response we will make. Jesus said that only those who love the truth will come to the light (John 3:20-21). Those who hate the light will run away from the light. Be-cause there is light and truth, we have a choice to make. The hope of this study is to con-vince us all to learn to love the truth more fully and come in-to the light.

Dear Sisters-in-Christ,
A reminder that we do not
have a WD meeting in June;
we will meet again on July 9.
The meeting will be hosted by
sister Pam Burford at the
church. Also, don’t forget
that we will have a salad
supper first at 6:30pm and
then after the devotional sis-
ter Martha Van Nordstrand
will lead us in our annual
service project; more infor-
mation about the service
project will be posted in the
ZO bulletins.
How are you doing on
planting your ‘word-seeds?’
The efforts we make in plant-
ing and the attention we
give to nourishing His word
in our lives will be to our
benefit so I encourage you to
apply the word of God to your
life, weeding out those things
that prevent or hamper the
word to take root in us. And
as we seek to understand the
lessons contained in the
written word of God—of
planting, nourishing, weed-
ing etc. His seeds—may our
desire be to become His…
Sowers of the Word
Your servant and sister-in-
Christ,
