BUILDING UPDATE On Wednesday, I attended a site meeting with the builders and architects and can provide the fol-lowing information. The installation of the gymnasium wooden floor commences today with workers flying down from Queensland to undertake this work – they are bound to comment about our beautiful weather! The removal of the old portable toilet scheduled for this coming weekend has now been postponed until the school holidays. Concreting works around the surrounds of the gymnasium will also be occurring during the next two to three weeks. The new office building is close to being com-pleted with carpet building laid next week. We are looking forward to showing the Minister for Education, the Hon James Merlino the progress of our building works tomorrow between 2.30pm and 3.00pm. CHESS COMPETITION On Tuesday 12th June, 22 of our students from Grade 2-6 attended a Chess Tournament at The Knox School. Throughout the day each student played 7 games against students from other schools. It was pleasing to see the way everyone approached their games with such positive attitudes as they represented our school. Win, lose or draw, they genuinely enjoyed each game. Overall our school placed equal 5th. Thanks to the parents who helped with transport and supported our students throughout the day. Congratulations to Kaixin who also qualified for the Primary Open Semi-Finals. OSHCLUB HOLIDAY PROGRAM Parents utilising the OSHClub Holiday Program are advised that the car parking area will not be available due to asphalting works. Parents are requested to drop off and pick up their children from the service road, off Mountain Highway in front of the school or the staff carpark near the new ad-min building. We apologise for any convenience. TERM 3 CURRICULUM DAY The next pupil-free Curriculum Day is Friday September 7th and all staff will be participating in a professional learning day with guest consultant, Toby McIlrath. The day’s program will focus on the following: Measurement-based Assessment, Judgement-based Assessment and Diagnostic Tools. This day has been organised in line with our Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. END OF TERM The last day for Term 2 is on Friday 29th June and students will be dismissed at 2.30pm. Term 3 commences on Monday 16th July. Graeme Russell
