them. This week during your prayer time, please pray for Sam and
Joanna Choi.
COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY The Community Food Pantry continues to give out bags every
Thursday with nutritious staples to individuals and families who live in
Winn Parish. They accomplish this task through the work of volunteers
from all over our parish. They operate solely through gifts and
donations from churches, individuals, businesses, and clubs – without
any government funds. Along with food items, they now offer eggs
donated every week from a local business, school uniforms, Christian
books and devotionals, New Testaments, homemade jellies and jams,
an opportunity to pray with a minister, and enhanced choices on the
“Lagniappe” table. Thank you for keeping this local ministry alive.

A Note from Pastor Keyes
The dreaded moment arrived. A young boy asked his father THE
QUESTION. Where did I come from? After stumbling through an
embarrassing and confusing explanation the father said “did that help?”
The boy replied “Not really. Jimmy told me his family came from
Arkansas and I just wondered where I came from.” Sometimes we make
things a lot more complicated than they really are.
We are now caught up in a slogan war. Black lives matter! All lives
matter! Blue lives matter! There are others but you get the point. Let me
bring an end to this squabble with the ultimate winning slogan. ALL
SOULS MATTER! This removes all distinctions and eliminates the
struggle to climb above each other based on race, occupation, social
standing, or any other personal characteristic people may discover.
I am certainly not a Bible scholar or theologian but I contend that all
humans are created by God, and even our Constitution noted, we are
created equal. Genesis 2:17 says “So God created man in His own
image”. My simple commentary on that is that God put a piece of Him in
each human, a soul. God separated humans from every other thing He
created. But we are not separated from each other. A soul has no race,
gender, nationality, political preference, or any other characteristic that
would cause division. We all carry the same worth and purpose in the
eyes of God, because we have a soul.
Regardless of color, ethnicity, social standing or any other division the
enemy, Satan, might use to his advantage, our focus as believers is
simple. All souls matter and God has tasked each believer and the church
to reach souls for His kingdom. The greatest tragedy will be if we get so
caught up in our favorite “slogan” that we forget our mission and purpose
in life. Paul might have summed it up best in 1 Corinthians 2:2 by telling
a much divided group of people “I decided to know nothing among you
except Jesus Christ and him crucified”. Our calling is as clear as Paul’s.
Every person we meet is a creation of God and has a soul, a piece of God
in them. Our task is to figure out how to introduce them to Jesus, our
crucified savior.
Where did we come from? We came from God and if we get it right about
Jesus we will go back to God and spend an eternity in heaven with Him.
That is too simple for many folks to accept, but it sure puts this world in
the proper perspective for me.
See you in church Sunday,
YOUTH NEWS Oneeighty
We will resume oneeighty on August 5th
.
Camp Harris- The Rock Weekend
On August 6th-8th our youth group will be going to Camp Harris in
Minden, Louisiana for "The Rock Weekend". This will be a
fantastic opportunity for our youth to get away from the anxieties
of this summer and focus on the rock that is Jesus Christ. This will
be a wonderful event with games, worship, and great speakers. Our
guest speaker for this event is James Hester from Social Springs
Baptist Church. Our band will be Esperanza led by Caleb Whitten.
Please contact one of our youth workers if you are interested in
attending! The cost for the camp is $25 per student.

Kids on Mission & Mission Friends Until we are able to meet for Kids on Mission and Sunday School,
we will provide weekly home resources for you and your family
through our FBC KIDS Online. Thanks to our curriculum publishers,
you and your family can have access to the same great content taught
in our classes each week at home. These resources are available to all
in our community looking for resources to lead their children in Bible
Study from toddlers - 6th grade.
Tithing During this unusual time in our church we want to share with you the
options for continuing your faithful practice of tithing and giving to
God’s work through our church.
Many of you are already connected to online giving and continue to use
that option. If you are not currently connected to that option and need
help doing that please contact the office.
You may choose to mail your contribution to FBC, P.O. Box 230,
Winnfield, LA. 71483 or place your tithe in the offering plates available
on Sunday mornings.

observance of the Lord’s Supper on July 26th. For those of you who watch
from home, please make plans to join us with your own juice and crackers.
Pastor Search Committee Update Our pastor search committee has once again narrowed our search to a
“short” list of candidates through the help of the VanderBloemen
firm. I feel the Lord is working to provide us with His man to lead
us. I am very excited and encouraged about our progress thus
far. Now is the time for you to pray for our committee to let the Spirit
move within us to help us discern His will for our church. We only
want His will and not ours. We are constantly in prayer for you, our
church, and the next leader of our church. Thank you for your
support and your patience.
