    1. JOB IDENTIFICATION

    Job Title: Broadband Technician

    Responsible to: Senior Product Manager via the Broadband Systems Administrator

    Department(s): IT Projects

    2. JOB PURPOSE

    To assist, support and provide cover for the Broadband Systems Administrator.

    To liaise with clients, both consumer and corporate, to install and commission a broadband serviceat client premises. This will entail providing technical and customer support for clients both duringand after sales. To assist with marketing the broadband service both field and office based and toadminister billing and management information reporting.

    3. DIMENSIONS

    To support the growing number of clients using and being installed with a broadband service.Currently around 70 clients which will rise to hundreds. There is a target of 200 live customers bythe end of 2010.

    To liaise directly with clients both consumer and business throughout the buying process andproviding technical support thereafter.

    Responsible directly to the Broadband Systems Administrator for day to day working and deputisingfor the role from time to time as the work dictates.

    The role is responsible for client satisfaction,installations and commissioning of services, providingtechnical support, liaison with the antenna installer, maintaining records, providing management

    information reports and administration of the billing system to include monthly invoicing and trackingpayments.

    4. ROLE OF DEPARTMENT

    To support the hardware infrastructure of the business, extending to key software used to maintainallpay and its staff.

    To configure client systems, internal software and Broadband hardware across multiple sites.

    To provide IT technical assistance to clients both by phone and through visits. To undertake,monitor and report on client satisfaction calls.

    Liaise with sales support and the external installations team.

    To assist with new client broadband sales and assist with managing the implementation process.This shall include cold calling, leaflet drops/follow up calls and producing quotes.

    To maintain the financial billing system, preparing the monthly invoices, tracking payments andfollowing up payment and client queries as required.

    To administer and maintain the database of clients and provide progress reports to management.

    To deputise for the Broadband Systems Administrator as required.

    The post-holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may be reasonably expected withinthe scope and grading of the post.

    6. ADDITIONAL KEY DUTIES

    7. KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

    Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in particular English and Maths.

    A qualification in Business Administration is desirable.

    A recognised Networking qualification along with TCP-IP knowledge would be an advantage.

    Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems and browsers such as Internet Explorerand Firefox.

    Familiarity with Direct Debits.

    Accountancy or budgetry experience is desirable.

    An understanding of Cabling (RJ45) and the knowledge of making up cabling is advantageous.

    Excellent customer service skills.

    Excellent problem solving skills at both a technical and non-technical level.

    The ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels.

    Excellent time management skills along with the ability to multi-task are essential.

    The ability to develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally and maintain aprofessional and approachable manner.

    Travel and flexible working hours are a prominent factor in this role and a full clean driving licence isrequired.
