Girls Day School Trust: Job Description
Role Assistant Head (Co-curr iculum)
Job Purpose Overall responsibility for the strategic development andeffective resourcing of the co-curriculum and fo r all relatedplanning and organisation. Oversight of the day-to-dayrunning o f co-curricular activities and for the leadership o fstaff engaged in arranging and delivering activities.
Accountable to: The Head
Responsible for: Sport, Music, Drama, D of E, Social Services
Accoun tab il it ies 1. Pol icy/Strateg ic di rection and development
a. Is responsible for the co-curricular calendar, liaising withthe Senior Teacher;
b. Plans, monitors and reviews the programme of weeklyco-curricular activities on activities afternoons, afterschool and in the lunch hour;
c. Is responsible for monitoring the educational value,coherence and creativity of the yearly programme forthe performing and creative arts;
d. Monitors the quality and performance of sport;e. Is responsible for the development and running of clubs
and societies;
f. Prepares the business for, chairs, and is responsible forthe minutes of the Co-curriculum Team;
g. Oversees co-curriculum budgets, and the resourcing ofthe co-curricular programme more widely;
h. Is responsible for enhancing the arrangements for front-of-house at public events (for example, concerts,productions, sports teas).
1. Staff and Pupil invo lvement
a. Liaises with Tutors and Departmental Heads to reviewpupil involvement;
b. Works with the Deputy Head on the deployment of staff;c. Develops the recording of and reporting on pupil
participation and achievement;d. Is responsible for publicity material (printed and on the
website) about the co-curriculum;e. Is available for consultation by parents on co-curricular
issues.
2. Service Programme
a. Monitors the range of options and quality of activities;

b. Oversees pupil choices;c. Is responsible for charitable activities.
3. Trips and Visits
a. Grants approval of school trips and exchanges;b. Works with the Senior Teacher to provide a yearly
calendar for trips and visits and consults with him overindividual requests for trips;
Generalrequirements
All school staff are expected to:
a. Work towards and support the school vision and the currentschool objectives outlined in the School Development Plan.
b. Contribute to the schools programme of extra-curricularactivities.
c. Support and contribute to the schools responsibility forsafeguarding students.
d. Work within the schools health and safety policy to ensurea safe working environment for staff, students and visitors
e. Work within the GDSTs Diversity Policy to promote equalityof opportunity for all students and staff, both current andprospective.
f. Maintain high professional standards of attendance,punctuality, appearance, conduct and positive, courteousrelations with students, parents and colleagues.
g. Engage actively in the performance review process.h. Adhere to policies as set out in the GDST Council
Regulations, Notes of Guidance and GDST circulars.i. Undertake other reasonable duties related to the job
purpose required from time to time.
