TRANSCRIPT
Parents, Here is a lesson that you can do at home with your preschooler & kindergarten kids.
Open Play! 1) Put out the coloring page and crayons. As the kids are coloring, tell them that
soon they will be having a parade. (If it’s nice they can do it in the backyard)
2) After the coloring is done, collect some branches and wave them around
together. Have them walk in a circle in the backyard or garage (if its raining.)
Say: This week we are learning about Easter. Do you know why we celebrate
Easter? We celebrate Easter because Jesus loved us so much, he died for us on
the cross. BUT after 3 days he became ALIVE AGAIN!! This story has 3 parts - the
first part we are learning about today is the beginning of the story. Jesus came to
Jerusalem and everyone was SO excited to see him that they had a parade for
him & laid branches down to make a path for him. Let’s read the story together.
Show the picture of Jesus riding the donkey. Read “Jesus Enters Jerusalem”
(see following pages) Ask the questions at the bottom of the story page.
Pray! Dear God. Thank you so much for sending Jesus, Your Son, to live and die
for us. We know you did this because you love us. We love you too. Amen
Tell them they will be learning a song and singing it for the next few weeks.
Sing! I Remember - Sung to the tune of Jesus Loves Me”

See Jesus riding on a donkey?
Everyone is happy because Jesus has come to visit them!
He has come to the city of Jerusalem.
All the people think he has come to be their king.
They think Jesus will be a good king because he is so kind
AND he can heal people!
“Hosanna! Hosanna!” they shout.
(It’s their way of saying, “Hooray! Praise God!”)
Some of the people wave tree branches and some even
put their coats on the ground for the donkey to walk on.
“Hosanna! Hosanna!” they keep shouting.
They do not know that in just a few days
Jesus will die on a cross for their sins.
