Jazz is a type of music that it was born in 19th century in USA, concretely in New Orleans.It's very influenced for the African's culture.The improvisation is important.

A style where the improvisation is very important is the

free jazz.One of the most known types of

jazz is blues. Blues is associated at sad emotions.

In jazz, the most common is that you can be a soloist, you can form a group of three or four instruments or you can be in a big band.

The typical jazz instruments are: the bass, the drums, the clarinet, the piano, the saxophone, the trumpet, the trombone, the violin and in some songs there are vocalists.The first jazz musicians were: King Oliver, Freddie Keppard, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Sydney Bechet and Buddy Bolden.

LOUIS ARMSTRONG

Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans in 1901 and he died in 1971. He was a trumpetist and a vocalist of jazz.He’s one of the most charismatic and innovative figures of the history of jazz, and, probably, he's the most popular musician.

Armstrong was born in one poor neighborhood. He began to play

the trumpet in a reformatory.In 1914, he knows his counselor Joe King Oliver. To the time, he was listening to the veteran musicians, learning of Bunk Johnson, Buddy Petit and,

especially of Joe King Oliver.Armstrong was incorporated at

the Joe King Oliver’s band, the most influence of swing in the 20’s. In this band, Armstrong was announced.In 1924 he went to the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra, the principal afroamerican’s band.He decided learn to read music and he recorded with the best blues singers, for example Bessie Smith.Between 1925 and 1928 he started two groups, Hot Five and Hot Seven.The Armstrong’s work with Hot Five and Hot Seven it would turn in classic inside the history of the jazz, being enormously influential and reinterpreted.In 1932, Louis travelled to Europe for first time and he returned in 1934.In the 40’s he started a group called All Stars. Armstrong, made the scatting famous. Scatting is a solo sung with sounds without any sense.In 1964,Louis obtained his first number one called Hello Dolly, and he won one Grammy for the best male singer.Louis died in 1971, two days after his birthday, for problems of heart.
