    Summer Meeting- August 26, 2011

    @Starbucks, 5:30PM to approx. 6:40PM

Thank you, to everyone who made it! And to those who couldnt, Im sorry you couldnt, so I hope this

will give you a good idea of what happened at the meeting. And feel free to throw in any suggestions

you have! This is a very big event, so ideas will be greatly appreciated.

We mainly talked about the event on the 9th

    !

Recap on the details (directly from senseis email):

y There are 12 of them.y They are arriving at 7:00 AM on Friday Sept 9.y We will make groups our students and they will go to your classes and

lunch with you on Friday. I think we should do it with Japanese

III/IV/AP students. Maybe groups of 3 or 4 and the Japanese students

can go to different classes.(PLEASE NOTE: I have asked sensei if the

club members will be able to hang out with them during the day.

Originally she wanted the upperclassmen to do it, but she has

RECONSIDERED and now it is likely that the club members will get to!)

y After school, we have to take care of them from 2:00 until 5:30.y At 5:30 they will go to the tailgate party and then to the football

    game.

y Coach Ondreizak is getting them t-shirts.So I want Japanese club to organize something for them after school

    Sept 9. Any ideas?

    Here are some of mine:

    -Play games

-Make them make a speech in English

-Feed them something American (Do you want me to try to get the project

room?)-Have them teach us something--origami, calligraphy, etc.

-Or do you think they will just want to hang out and walk around the school

    for 3 hours?

-This could be a really cool bonding event for the Japanese club if it works.

-I think we should do something where they teach us something...

    Meeting Notes & Discussion

    Grouping with the Students

-A few big questions came up: Who will get to group up with the students? How will wedetermine who get who? How many in a group?

-A lot of things are still unclear, so the topic of grouping up with them and how we will is going

to be saved for the meeting with sensei.

-Everyone agreed that club members get priority.

Being with the Students during the school day and after school!-If grouped up with the students, then they will accompany us to our classes

-They will eat lunch with us

-It seems like half of us have second lunch and half us have first lunch, so it would be

cool if we meet up with the rest of the students during our lunch-We will hang out with them after school until the either during or after the tailgate party (which

    is at 5:30)

    - Hopefully we get the project room!

Ideas of what to do during the hangout-Icebreakers (games to break the ice and make everyone comfortable)

-Other games (we dont have very many ideas for this)

-Have them teach us something like sumo or something

    -Picnic (see next topic point!)

    Picnic-Picnic outside (pray for sun)

-Get towels or tarps to sit on? (Actually, ASB has nice fancy tablecloths we can use for the

    picnic!)

    FOOD IDEAS AND NOTES

-Pizza (its cheap and pizzas big and filling. We will most likely use out funds for this)

    -Root beer floats

    -Chips (flavor suggestions, anyone?)

    -Soda

-Healthy foods, like fruits! (Grapes, watermelon, etc)

-Alternatives to meat, just in case any of them are vegetarians

-Possibly a barbeque (but we need to talk to sensei about this)

-We REALLY need to be conscious about our fund spending, so its suggested that each

member bring something. But dont panic if you cant! (:

-Concerning plates, cups and such: apparently there are some in the library, so we will

check the library before getting any of that stuff

Thats the gist of the meeting. Remember; feel free to throw in more ideas! Oh, and dont forget, we

have a meeting with Sensei in a week or so. Here are the DETAILS.

    Where: Mariner, Japanese classroom!

    When: September 6th

Time: 2-3 PM (If you can come early to help set up the room, it would be much appreciated!)
