word that comes to mind
when you hear “country
club”? The word “friendly”
doesn’t usually top the list
and, at times, it might not
even make the list. Many
people tend to think of
the word “stuffy” which is a synonym for
“unfriendly”. However, your Club is truly
making a splash as we become known as the
friendliest Club around. Over the course of
this season we have heard comments such as:
“It's such an incredible club with everything
you could ask for, including ridiculously
friendly members and staff ! I was very
impressed and I’d like to explore membership
offerings.” and “Everyone here is just so friendly!
When I’ve visited private clubs as a guest in the
past, I have always felt like an outsider and
sometimes an intruder . . . but everyone, from
the members to the staff, made me feel at home
here as if I’ve been a member for years. It’s a
wonderful place.” These are only a few of the
fantastic comments we have received, so we
want to thank you for simply being you; for
always making the extra effort to say hello to
someone you don’t know or to wave to a
prospective member on a tour, or for introduc-
ing yourself to a newcomer at martini madness.
As you relax and unwind at CRCC this
summer, be sure to make a splash at one of the
summer’s pool parties, or join us for our new
Wednesday and Thursday evening “Twilight
Dip & Dine.” Watch sparks fly at the Club’s
4th of July fireworks show and join the weekly
9-holers or a drop-in tennis clinic. As you
continue to perfect your swing both on the
courts and course, we look forward to seeing
you become more involved with the various
Member groupings and events offered during
the summer months.
Be sure to sign your children and grand-
children up for junior summer golf, tennis,
swim and/or combo camps. The camps are
open to both members and non-members so
be sure to also tell your friends. Camp
sessions will surely sell-out due to high
demand; please make your reservation early!
The summer season marks a time of Club
improvement projects that you will soon see
underway. All improvements are based on
Member feedback, so, as always; we thank you
for your suggestions and ask that you continue
to tell us how we are doing.
If you know of anyone who would enjoy the
Club, please let me know so that I can extend
an invitation to that person or family to be a
“Member for the Day.” You can reach me at:
954.449.4404, [email protected].

summer months as a
time to enjoy family
and friends, have fun
and play more golf! As
the heat of summer
approaches, one of the
most important things
on every golfer’s mind
is trying to keep cool. We would like to
offer you a few suggestions:
C L O T H I N G – Both the Tennis & Golf
Pro Shops carry an assortment of clothing
that breathes and helps wick away moisture
from the body. Many of these style shirts
come in both short and long sleeve for the
men and ladies.
S U N B L O C K – Apply the highest level
of SPF to all exposed areas of your body to
direct sunlight. All CRCC Pro Shops carry
these products for your choosing.
H Y D R AT I O N – To keep your body
hydrated, we offer a variety of beverages at
the Carousel and in the Men’s and Ladies
Locker Rooms. Drinking plenty of water is
always a good idea.
C H I L L E D TOW E L S – For refreshing
relief from the summer heat, please take
advantage of the chilled towels available
outside the Golf Shop and Carousel, as well
as at the restrooms on the golf course.
We hope that by offering you these heat
relieving options, your use of the Club in the
summer months will be more enjoyable.

Junior TeesCRCC is recognized as an official “PGA
Family Course.” The PGA of America and
U.S. Kids Golf launched the PGA Family
Course, a nationwide initiative that is
intended to provide PGA Professionals a
means to make golf more enjoyable for
families, regardless of age and ability.
The PGA Family Course Program
benefits Coral Ridge Country Club in a
number of ways because the program encour-
ages parents and kids to come to the course
together, provides a simple transition as each
player’s ability increases, makes golf more
enjoyable for players new to the game, estab-
lishes a beginner-friendly short course within
the existing golf facility, and enables players of
varying abilities to shoot similar scores. Be
sure to use one of our 4-seater golf carts for a
family experience like no other!

Cultural Practices
J A Y B O R I N G
G O L F C O U R S E
S U P E R I N T E N D E N T
THE SUMMER MONTHS
are the best time to perform
most cultural practices to the
turf. These practices include:
aerification, verticutting, and topdressing.
The aerification practice will be completed
throughout the summer months on the
greens, tees, and fairways. The process is
beneficial because it provides better
wetting penetration during the rainy
season. It also improves the root density
and relieves compaction at the surface. The
greens process is most important because it
removes organic matter that has built up
over the past 8 months, allowing the roots
to get more oxygen so the water can move
through the profile down to the roots,
which helps keep the surfaces dry. When
the aerification is completed on the green,
we will fill the holes with sand which will
provide a smoother surface on the greens
and help to heal the holes.
Verticutting is vertical mowing of the
grass and is done to help thin the turf at
the surface, this helps us to maintain the
smooth surface of the greens. It also
provides little grooves for the sand to fall
into when verticutting is followed by
topdressing. The thinning of the grass on
the greens also helps water move faster
from the surface to the roots. In addition
this procedure will be performed on the
tees and fairways during the hot, wet
months when the turf is growing rapidly.
Topdressing is usually performed after
verticutting because applying sand helps
smooth the surface.

Uneven Recovery from aFairway Bunker

T R Y I N G T O H I T
quality shots from a fairway bunker are diffi-
cult hazards to recover from with good
results. To make it even more difficult, when
the ball ends up in the bunker you are unable
to stand in the bunker to take your shot.
What to do? First you have to start out
with reasonable expectations. Choose a club
that you are sure will clear whatever lip is in
front of you and always lean on the side for
more loft. Widen your stance and flex your
knees to lower the bottom of your swing. This
allows you to make solid contact with the ball
first before the sand. During your swing, try
to keep the lower body very stable and remain
the same knee flex as address. Focus on
making solid contact and advance the ball
down the fairway towards the green.
• Have reasonable expectations
• Choose a club with plenty of loft to clear
the bunker lip
• Maintain consistent knee flex throughout
swing• Focus on solid contact

C LU B EV E N T R E S E RVAT I O N P OL I C Y
Special club events, wine dinners, Saturday night seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require
the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations
(including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the
Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of
the special event and holiday dining policy.
• At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price.
• Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you, so we may contact them.
• You may cancel 7 days prior to event, without being charged.
• If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price.
Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be
credited in full.
