SAYVILLE LIBRARY Happenings JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2013 VOL. XV, NO. 46 ith this issue of Happenings we are unveiling the Library’s new logo and redesigned newsletter. The logo was created by Sayville High School Student Emily Diehl last spring. It is to commemorate the Library’s 100th Anniversary, which we will be celebrating throughout 2014, with the official commemoration of the 1914 opening day taking place in November. A subcommittee of the Sayville Library Board was created and began meeting in February to plan programs and displays that will fulfill the library’s mission of providing educational, informational and recreational materials and programs for our residents. The kickoff event for the celebration will begin this year with a fundraiser in March when the library has its first ever 5K Run and Family Fun Walk. As one resident commented on the Library’s Facebook page: “This is a great event to bring all the neighborhood together and help our amazing library.” Funds raised from this Run will support the Library’s anniversary festivities. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 16, 2013 and plan to be a part of this exciting endeavor. We invite all residents and businesses to support this event either as a runner, walker or sponsor. Details are available on page 2 of this newsletter or you may go to the Library’s Facebook page for information. Families may be sponsors, too.
