1 - Mint your Love! The colour mint was on
every runway in 2012, and the experts say it will be seen in many weddings this year. Mint is a refreshing colour, very delicate and can be mixed with a variety of other colours. The best part about mint is it can be incorpo-rated into almost anything in your 2013 Wedding — bridesmaid dresses, shoes, jewellery, centrepieces, wedding cake, flowers … Anything you can imagine !
2 - Braid and Brides are Back
With a little research, we can see that in 2013 a lot of brides will be wear-ing braids again! The good news is that with such a wide variety, every bride can find something she will love to wear for her wedding and still be differ-ent. So make note for your hairdresser before you talk about wedding hairstyles, and don’t forget a beautiful braid.
3 - BackdropsA backdrop adds a nice
touch of decor to any wed-ding, and can be customized to any size, colour or style. Remember to personalize your wedding to your indi-taste, and make it truly you! For this reason, the back-drop can be the perfect compliment for head tables, gift tables, wedding cake displays, altars, photo booths, or even speakers’ podiums.
4 - Mini menusConsider having appetiz-
ers and desserts of mini sizes, which look cool and stylish. Believe me, your guests will appreciate the idea of eating the small sandwiches, bever-ages and desserts. Amaze everyone by presenting the food the original way. The same principle works for the cakes.
5 - Beer !?You shouldn’t avoid serv-
ing the symbolic wedding cocktail, yet with the great range of microbrews and craft beer offered on the market, you will easily find the exclusive ones to serve to your guests. You may even custom make the labels!
6 - BirdsUsually called the lovebirds,
these sweet creatures have been always associated with romance and love, so it is obvious why they perfectly suit all those wedding attributes like the decorations, invitations, cake toppers and centrepieces. Expect to see an increase in bird-themed every-
thing throughout 2013, particularly in the spring. Some examples include tossing bird seed, bird cages as card holders, bird-themed invitations, and bird’s nest favours
7 - Virtual GuestsIn 2013, technology will play
in huge role in how couples will share their most precious moments with friends and family around the world. Live-stream weddings are continuing to gain popularity and next year will be a defining year for this type of service. If a loved one cannot attend a wedding, couples will opt to “broadcast” their event and allow front-row access to anyone, anywhere. It’s real-time streaming of a real-life event.
8 Localized Weddings As we are planning and prep-
ping for extraordinary 2013 wed-dings, we look ahead to the local-ized wedding. You needn’t look too far past your hometown for gor-geous wines or fresh bounty from farmers or bakers. Caterers will see an increase of delectable menus that are thoughtful and sourced locally, showcasing the best of
what’s to offer where their creativity can truly shine.
9 Fabulous FloralsFor spring 2013, we’ll see
soft shades of yellows mixed with gray and pastels for the romantic look and feel. Summer, get ready for over-sized and brightly coloured blooms. Lush coral or hot pink peonies tied together with lots of pretty ribbons. Let’s not forget to use lots of texture by incor-porating fruits, grasses, pods, berries and succulents. For the DIY bride, let’s not forget all the vibrantly coloured summer blooms at the farmer’s market. To tie the look together, put lots of pretty ribbons and lace around the bouquet handle
10 Vintage The biggest wedding trend
for 2013 will be a 1920’s vintage look. The decadence and gay-ety of the era make it a perfect inspiration for a celebration like a wedding. The style of 20’s fashion is very romantic. Hallmarks of this look include dropped waist dresses and lace in soft colours of ivory. Instead of a traditional veil you could wear a cloche style headpiece or a beaded headband with art deco details. Vintage is often used in the weddings, but this year it is going to reign not only in the wedding dress styles, but will also become a big trend in the wedding themes in general. We will probably see the 30s and 40s-inspired themes along with the 20s mark.

WEDDINGS & EVENTS
To make that special day absolutely amazing and exactly like your child-hood dreams, personal-ize your wedding to your individual style and make it truly you! Don’t settle for common and traditional wedding ideas just because everyone else is doing it. It is your wedding day and should reflect your style, your ideas, and only your persona. Why settle for a traditional limo, white wedding cake, or common wedding dress? Use your imagination and create a truly unique wedding! Have your guests says with a smile, “This wedding was truly her, and I would never confuse this with anyone else’s!”
Every bride and groom wants to personalize their wedding, but many of us do not have the time between our busy schedules, work and kids. If you’re planning a do-it-yourself wedding, make sure to take some advice from brides who have been there with these helpful hints.
• If you don¹t have a wedding planner, enlist a friend who isn¹t in your bridal party to help you pri-oritize and plan!
• Keep reality in focus by knowing your budget
and sticking to it! It is easy to get wrapped up in hav-ing an extravagant wed-ding, but remember the day is really about you and your partner.
• Choose a theme or symbol first to solidify the vision of your wedding, and it will make the party plan-ning process easier.
• If you’re thinking of a specific colour, keep in mind what flowers are available during the time of your wedding, and note that flowers in season are less expensive.
• If you have older wedding guests, make sure there are plenty of places for them to sit.
• If you’re having a large number of guests aged 10 and under, hire a babysitter to watch kids during the
ceremony. Or set up a chil-dren’s table or room at the reception, complete with crayons, colouring books, small toys and games.
• Be cognizant of guests and their dietary restric-tions — shellfish, vegetar-ians, gluten, vegan/vegetar-ian by making sure there is something for everyone.
• Seat people with similar interests and ages together, and put an even amount of people at each table, as people tend to pair off in conversation! You don’t want to leave anyone out.
• Thank-you notes are as important as your invita-tions. A great time to write them is on the plane ride to your honeymoon destina-tion while the memory is still fresh.
