Candidates file for local, state, and national office Greeley County Health Services Adds New Physical Therapy Treatments The Physical Therapy department of Greeley County Health Services announces new therapy treatment techniques. Greeley and Wallace County Physical Therapy services have expanded to begin offering new services of Cupping and RockBlade therapies. “We are excited to be able to offer these new services to our patients,” Sarah Wamsley, Physical Therapist, said. The Physical Therapy department has worked to certify three providers in myofascial cupping and two providers in instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation utilizing RockBlade tools. “These additional treatment techniques will be something that we can use for a wide variety of movement disorders and soft tissue dysfunctions. The fact that we will have 2 providers doing instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and 3 who can provide the cupping techniques is a huge plus for our patients” Wamsley said. Myofascial Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine that applies cups to the skin to create suctioning effect. This age-old therapy technique is beneficial for pain management, inflammation, blood flow, and relaxation of muscles and tissues. “We use cupping as an adjunct to our other therapy treatment including manual therapy and exercise. Utilizing cupping while doing active movements maximizes the effect of the decompression to allow the patient to normalize their movement and then retrain the body in those correct movement patterns,” Wamsley said. Rockblade therapy uses different types of tools to manipulate soft tissue in order to mitigate pain, improve movement patterns, and improve motor output of the muscles. Greeley County Health Services has professional RockBlade tools that therapists apply to the surface of the patient’s skin, to affect receptors within the soft tissues and help improve body function in those areas. Both the Cupping and Rockblade techniques can be used on a wide variety of problem areas to help improve physical therapy results and improve mobility, range of motion, and reduce pain and stiffness. “As a department we strive to be proactive in seeking out new methods that we can incorporate into our practice to help our patients,” Wamsley said. If people have specific conditions such as pain, stiffness, limited mobility or range of motion, or other physical debilitations, they can receive cupping, rockblading and all other physical therapy treatments through Direct Access. This means that patients don’t have to have a physician referral to see the physical therapist for a problem they are having. For more information about certified Cupping or Rockblade therapy, call Greeley County Physical Therapy at 620-376-4536. I find it makes me, and a lot of other people, grouchy or effected in some way. The relentlessness of the wind at 20+ miles per hour draws the energy out of me. One would think that, after so many years of living in Kansas, we would get used to the wind….but no. **** J – We have had daughter Meagan and granddaughter Jade with us for a week. In that week, we have had 100 degree scorching temps, rain with 55 degrees the next day, and high winds to even higher winds most of the other days. This is western Kansas, after all, I guess. Hopefully, the coming week is better. The wind makes playing outside a little hard. However, if Jade has a stick and some dirt and some rocks, she’s happy. If she has a puddle of water, or some bubbles, she’s happy. She also likes to dance and so we have dance parties featuring music from a little horse from Pride…and all of us must dance. It’s so interesting and so much fun watching her discover things. We really are blessed. Friends loaned us a little pool, cycle and swing, so here’s a swing picture. The county will not have the double harvest of last year, but there will be a harvest. It’s amazing that the wheat has survived with the lack of rainfall for the past 10 weeks and with the high winds. “That’s why this is wheat country,” was the remark of one farmer. **** D — Jan and I are glad to have our daughter Meagan and granddaughter Jade visit with us for a few weeks.
