I take this opportunity to present to you our first batch of the 15 months, Full time, Post

Graduate Diploma in Management – Executive Progarmme. This is a unique program

where the minimum eligibility is graduation with five years experience at supervisory/

managerial level duly approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE)

offering a distinct advantage over traditional two years programs in business.

At SIMSR we believe not only in academic excellence but holistic development of

students as well. Ever since our inception in 1981, we have been raising our bar year

over year in terms of revamping our teaching pedagogy. The PGDM-Executive program is

especially designed for experienced professionals in various sectors to hone their skills and make them ready for the

new challenges that they will encounter in the markets in future. We foster sharpening of skills and enhancement of

ABOUT

PGDM-EXECUTIVE

The PGDM-Executive program is designed for professionals with at least 5 years of experience at managerial level to prepare

them for senior management positions in the corporate / functional areas. The emphasis is to hone their soft skills and

knowledge to take larger responsibilities required in the above jobs.

Students undertaking the program are passionate about learning and are happy to be back in the classroom among their

professional and intellectual peers, where they can share the challenge of learning new skills and techniques for managing

business. They are aware of the demands of the industry, society and family and are highly motivated and committed to the

task at hand and ahead of them.

During the program, the students are exposed to a variety of subjects to enable them to have a broader picture of social,

cultural, economic and global environment and equip them to cope up with the challenges likely to be faced by them through

a mix of case studies, simulation exercises, field projects and class discussions. During the course of the program, at least 25-35

hours each week are allotted for some combination of group projects, research, assignments and presentations.

Students are selected from diverse backgrounds/regions, with an eye on experience sharing on diverse range of subjects and

case studies. They share the challenges faced by them in their jobs/situations. Each PGDM-Executive candidate is a case study

in himself or herself. The group projects foster the spirit of teamwork and bring out leadership skills.

The program offers niche specializations that help them understand the specific issues about the selected domains while

keeping track of general management subjects/issues. Students are also offered a choice of electives across specialisations to

understand and appreciate the cross functional issues. Specialisation subjects bring in a very healthy and focused discussion

from among those with experience in the sector the ones who are new to it.

The program is conducted by highly qualified and industry experienced faculty, who are also currently providing consultancy

support to various organisations.

Overall the program is specially designed for the experienced professionals and provides inputs, which are contemporary and

are useful for the current globalised and fast changing environment.

ABOUT

SIMSRK. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) was established in 1981 as a part of K J Somaiya Trust and

Somaiya Vidyavihar, with the objective of providing state of the art education in Management and allied areas. The Institute

was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the present Prime Minister of India, and has since established itself among the top

B-Schools in India.

Content

Students are required to work in an organization for three months on a problem/ issue of strategic nature. The

outcome of this project should be a case, a research paper or a business plan for an entrepreneurial venture.

outcome, the faculty will guide the students towards all relevant reading material and the process for field

PLACEMENT

RULES AND PROCESS

The companies can conduct the Pre Placement Talk (PPT) on dates fixed as per convenience of the companies and SIMSR. Pre

Placement Talk (PPT) is meant to highlight available job profiles, career growth opportunities and compensation details. After

the Pre Placement Talk (PPT), interested students will sign up and the company will conduct first level selection process

(GD/Case Study) for interested students on the same day. This should result into a shortlist for PIs, which would also be

conducted on the same day itself. The results of selected students should be declared to SIMSR immediately after the PIs.

In case the company cannot come for the Pre Placement Talk (PPT), company authorities can forward a soft copy of the PPT,

which would be screened to the students. CV's of interested students (to be signed up after going through company's PPT) will

be forwarded to the company so that they can come up with the shortlists for PIs.

SIMSR has a policy of one offer per student and students are blocked from further participation in the process after first

confirmed selection. It is imperative that the company decides at the earliest about the selection of the students so that the

student is not selected by more than one company during the time lag.

stPlacement process will start from 01 August 2012 onwards.
