Tis the Season2015 Membership Renewal: According to Gary Snyder (IRCC Treasurer), our 2015 membership renewals are going strong. As in past years, Gary has made it very easy to rejoin. Just see either Gary or myself at the field, provide proof of your AMA membership for 2015, pay the membership fee (check or cash) and you will receive your new cards on the spot. Anyone wishing to use PayPal can send their payment to me at [email protected] via “Send Money to Family or Friend” at no additional cost! We will then have your cards for pick up at the field or if you prefer, mail them to you. Remember that flying privileges end December 31st for the 2014 flying season and in order to continue flying at the IRCC field you must have your 2015 AMA card (or proof of membership) and your 2015 IRCC Membership Card. The gate combination will also be changed at our next meeting and will be made available only to current, 2015 members. 3 rd Annual Mulberry Electric Extravaganza: Our third year event unfortunately fell far short of the anticipated participation that we were looking for with only a handful of pilots from other area clubs showing up. Friday had gotten off to a very slow start with overcast skies and moderate to gusty winds. Saturday however was absolutely perfect with plenty of sunshine and light easterly winds right down the runway almost all day. Several of our own club members participated on Saturday. Thank you to Terry & Dot Crosby for picking up lunch for us! Although not the “EXTRAVAGANZA” event we were hoping for, there were two shining stars that came out of it! Marvin Mauricio Alvarez and Bob Minick brought their fantastic all electric149” wingspan C-130 up from Miami to join us. You may remember seeing them at 12 O’clock High last month were they took the 2014 BEST MILITARY honors! This 1/11 th scale aircraft weighs in at 55lbs and was “scratch built” by Bob taking over three years to complete. Marvin is the pilot on this two man crew and to watch him expertly put this bird through its maneuvers was a joy to watch! The second and probably the most important part of this event was the collection of toys for the Polk County “Toy’s For Tot’s Program”. Even though we do use it as somewhat of a fundraiser for the club, the main emphasis for this event is the collection of the toys for the community we live in. This year, with your help, we collected over 70 toys that will help to put smiles on children’s faces Christmas morning right here in Polk County. These were picked up with many thanks by this organization on Sunday. One final note: For all those that will be traveling to other locations to enjoy the holidays with family, friends, I wish you safe travel and a speedy return and for everyone… May all of the Blessings & Joy of this holiday season be yours! Until next month that is all from The Flight Line!

“Tis the Season”

2015 Membership Renewal: According to Gary Snyder (IRCC Treasurer), our 2015 membership renewals are going strong. As in past years, Gary has made it very easy to rejoin. Just see either Gary or myself at the field, provide proof of your AMA membership for 2015, pay the membership fee (check or cash) and you will receive your new cards on the spot. The gate combination will also be changed at our next meeting and will be made available only to current, 2015 members.

3rd Annual Mulberry Electric Extravaganza: Our third year event unfortunately fell far short of the anticipated participation that we were looking for with only a handful of pilots from other area clubs showing up.

Marvin Mauricio Alvarez and Bob Minick brought their fantastic “all electric” 149” wingspan C-130 up from Miami to join us. You may remember seeing them at 12 O’clock High last month were they took the 2014 BEST MILITARY honors!

This 1/11th scale aircraft weighs in at 55lbs and was “scratch built” by Bob taking over three years to complete. Marvin is the pilot on this two man crew and to watch him expertly put this bird through its maneuvers was a joy to watch!

Newsletter & Website: Sean McCafferty has accepted the position of webmaster and will be updating the IRCC website soon. Sean comes by this naturally as he does this type of work professionally.

Past Events: Our family day event went very well. We had over 80 members and family show up. The weather was great and no one went home hungry. Larry Loucks and crew did a great job cooking the burgers and dogs. New Events: Our Mulberry Electric Extravaganza takes place from December 5 through the 7th. There will be a Toys for Tots drive at that time. If you bring a new unwrapped gift, the landing fees will be reduced.

February 21 is the date for Planes, Trains and Automobiles at the Plant City Airport. Our club has been asked again to represent model aviation.

Florida Jets is scheduled for March 4 through the 7th. This will be held again at Paradise Field. We also have a pylon race as well as Top Gun later in the spring.

Old Business: The runway is done with the exception of a few small touch-ups.

New Business: Don LaPointe asked the club to reconsider dropping the cost of the club dues for our winter visitors. He has some contacts that have shown interest in our club but say the cost is more than they feel they can afford. It will be discussed at the next Board of Directors meeting.

Sportsmanship Award: Combined with his eagerness to help at our club events, his dedication and hard work, Al Coffee was awarded the trophy this month. 50/50: Ron Finger won this month’s raffle. A first for him he said!

At 8:45 a motion was made to close this month’s meeting. All agreed.

IRCC MEETING MINUTES

December 2014 Recorded by Ian Clark (Secretary)

The December monthly meeting of the IRCC was brought to order at 7:30 by President Dave Raff. A motion to accept the minutes of the November meeting was made and passed.

Visitors and New Members: We had no visitors or new members in attendance.

Treasurers Report: We have had a very strong year. We started November with $xxxx.xx more than this time last year. 12:00 O'Clock High brought in $xxxx.xx. Our runway project cost $4700.00 and extra work brought the total up to $5100.00. Our donations brought in $4950.00 so the club only used $150.00 of our money on the entire project. We want to thank all our club members for their generous contributions.

Membership Report: We have a total of 111 members with 97 being full members. Last year we had 93 full members at this time. Our dues continue to be $200.00 for the year with no changes. We are accepting renewals at this time.

Field Maintenance Report: It was brought up that we need to rethink the chain access we have across the ramp entrance at our main building. It was suggested we put some padded head protection as well as put a snap connector on the chain to make it easier for people to use the ramp to gain entrance to our shelter. Dave Raff has put a lot of fire ant killer down over the last few weeks. This is a never ending battle. The field is ready for the Mulberry Electric Extravaganza.

Safety Report: We have no report this month. Everyone went home safely again last month. By being observant, we can continue this.

Instructors Report: It has been reported that there are a few people interested in our club and preparing to take an introduction flight.

The next IRCC club meeting will be held on Saturday

January 10th 2015

at the field starting at 9:00 AM
