It is through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, | would like to draw the kind attention of the
concerned authorities towards the unprecedented hike in prices of essential commodities. During
last few months, prices of essential commodities have shot up. This rising trend continues
unchecked. As a result, the majority of people who have meager salaries find it difficult to make their
both ends meet. It seems there is no system to check the unusual price rise.
e cannot imagine where this price rise will stop. It has crushed the common man. The essential
commodities and things of daily need are becoming dearer everday. The common man cannot fulfil
his basic needs. !e cannot give good education to his children. "ood medical treatment is beyond his
reach. It seems that regulatory system has completely collapsed. The skyrocketing price rise is a
cause of great concern for all. Though the low income group people are the worst affected.
It is time that our government should check the causes behind the ever#increasing prices without any
delay. It needs to immediately check blackmarketing, hoarding and profiteering and it should strictly
deal with those who are found guilty. In fact, they are the enemies of society. !ence, they deserve to
be tackled hard#handedly. $nly then common man can be relieved from the effects of price hike.
$f late the prices of all essential commodities are rising day by day. %ice which sold at &' %s.kg. last
month is now selling at &(.') %s. *er kg. The price of pure ghee has increased from &&' %s.+kg. to &'
%s.+kg. The prices of vegetables, fruits, pulses etc. have also shown an upward trend. In fact, it is
difficult to think of an item which is not becoming dearer day by day.
The poor are the worst prey of rising prices. -owadays, it is hard for them to make both ends meet.
$ne of the reasons for increase in prices is hoarding by the traders, who try to create an artificial
scarcity as they have done in the case of rice and food grains. The government should check such
malpractices to safeguard the interests of the consumers.
It has now become an everyday affair in our town that the people have to live in complete darkness
for long hours#in absence of electricity. The tate /lectricity 0oard seemed to be careless and rather
indifferent about the difficulty felt by the dwellers of the town.
o I would re1uest you to ventilate the evils of load#shedding through the columns of your esteemed
newspaper, so that the concerned authority comes to its senses and takes immediate steps to remove
this undesirable ha2ardous problem.
During the dark hours of the night, we, the students, suffer much in our studies for want of light3 the
old and the sick, and especially the children also suffer in many ways. The anti#socials become more
active, taking advantage of the darkness, and it becomes risky for one to be on the dark streets at
night.

The curse of load#shedding has become like a chronic disease that damages the normal life of the
people. 4es, if it were an occasional event, no one would have bothered about it, because a sudden
breakdown of a generating station might cause it. 0ut it has now become almost a regular
occurrence, which goes to prove mere negligence and inefficiency of the tate /lectricity 0oard. It is
not known what can be their e5cuse on this kind of major lapse.
e must, by all means, get rid of this kind of load#shedding that is going to almost paralyse our
normal life, especially after dusk. All of us must be united to do something about this. o I re1uest
for your kind interference into the matter which is re1uired to be highlighted before the public eye
with your valuable suggestion or criticism.
Of late frequent power-cuts for long hours everyday in our state have given rise to many
problems. Power failure disrupts life at home and outside as well. Due to frequent load-
shedding, water supply is severely aected and the in houses run dry. At nightfall, people
face greater problems. Doing household activities in the light of the candles and lamps
becomes almost impossible. People inside the lifts get stranded. here can be no operation
in the hospitals and nursing homes. People sweat profusely as the fans stop moving. he
students, particularly the e!aminees are the worst suerers. hey can hardly concentrate on
their studies as mosquitoes start sitting upon them to bite as soon as the electricity goes o.
Production in the mills and factories is greatly hampered. hus load-shedding means a huge
loss in the national income too.
