“Suyathozhil Awareness Seminar”at Thoothukudi

on November 2015 was a successful program.

More than 300 delegates participated. Following

this success, the Foundation has planned to

conduct the next Suyathozhil Awareness Seminar at

Salem, Periyar University, on 16th December 2015.

The Foundation is working on a program to invite

Corporate Sector and other Donors who will be

interested to participate in promoting Rural

Education. Our team’s visit to the rain-affected

Cuddalore district has resulted in the opening of a

new Rural Tuition Centre in Vadakuthu village,

Cuddalore District.

involved in many good causes and is very

dedicated and passionate teacher.

Mercantile Bank, Thoothukudi shares some of its thoughts on

TMB’s role in promoting Rural Education.

Tamilnad Mercantile Bank is committed to promote many

social welfare activities. The Bank supports Rural Education,

by improving amenities at Rural area Schools and also provides

Benches, Desks and Sports Equipments to Rural Schools. The

major initiative undertaken during the recent times is providing

Toilet facilities and purified Drinking water facilities for

Schools.

Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Ltd. has received Best Private

Sector Bank - Social Banking Excellence Award from

ASSOCHAM India during the last two years.In addition to

promoting Education, the Bank also undertakes to provide

training on financial literacy at Rural Centers. Such programs

enhance the knowledge about the Bank transactions in the

minds of the Rural habitat and also promotes the habit of saving

with Bank.

Foundation runs Rural Tuition Centres in 5 Villages in

Thoothukudi District for the children of, Bundle bearer,

Vegetable dealer, Milk dealer, Salt bearer, Farm laborer, Duck

shepherd, Banana tar bearer, Bricklayer, Woodcutter, Vehicle

driver, Daily wage workers .

Servaikaranmadam Rural T u i t i o n C e n t r e a t Thoothukudi district is managed by the volunteer teacher G.Jenita. Thirty students study in this centre. The parents of most of the students are Farm laborers, Domestic Servants & Daily W a g e w o r k e r s . T h e

Foundation’s Secretary, D.V. Venkatagiri & Head -Projects, S. Elamaran visited Servaikaranmadam Rural Tuition Centre on October 2015.
