Training and educationPROCENTEC is very successful with its training program. Up to now, more than 4000 par cipants have received a cer fi cate. PROFIBUS ToolsPROFIBUS is a proven standard in the industry. More and more plants are completely equipped with this outstanding technology. The management of these enterprises are aware that the intelligence and diagnos cs of the instruments contribute to costs savings and op miza on of produc on automa on. ProfiCaptainPROFIBUS DP master pla orm

Profi Captain is a PC based DP master that has been designed for applica ons like: I/O tests, commissioning, parameteriza on and demonstra ons. It makes working with PROFIBUS a lot easier, faster and more fun.

The pla orm is a confi gura on environ-ment in which the user can setup his slaves with the respec ve modules and parameters. A er se ng up the net-work, the user puts them online without compila on or download. The I/Os can simply be watched and manipulated. If needed, class 2 func ons can be used on all addresses in the network,even if they are not confi gured or belongto another master. Profi Captain is integratedin Profi Trace 2.

ProfiTrace OPC ServerExchanging Profi Trace data with other applica ons

The Profi Trace OPC Server off ers a standardized interface to get the valuable Profi Trace informa on, like device status, sta s cs and process variables into applica ons that carry an OPC client, like: SCADA, Excel, etc.

Many process or factory plants nowa-days use SCADA or Asset management so ware to get an overview of the pro-duc on status and applica on alarms. However, they have no insight on the PROFIBUS health and behaviour which could indicate a poten al shutdown. This informa on contributes heavily to the installa on up me.

Using Profi Trace OPC, it is now pos-sible to get the real live state of your PROFIBUS network directly in your SCADA system, allowing maintenance engineers and operators to react quickly to any PROFIBUS related alarms or irregular events coming up on the screen. The opportuni es are vast.

You can display Profi Trace tags in a SCADA/HMI package or link it to an SMS/email client and send a message when something happens with the PROFIBUS installa on or even generate your own report in MS Word/Excel. Every applica- on that acts as OPC client can approach the Profi Trace tags. It does NOT disturb the PROFIBUS cycle me because the

informa on comes from busmonitoring (listening).

ProfiTrace CommDTMPROFIBUS access point for assetmanagement tools

The Profi Core Ultra CommDTM enables PROFIBUS DP-V1 access for FDT 1.2 compliant frame applica ons, like: PACTware, Fieldcare, etc.

The Profi Core USB hardware is used for the interface between PC and PROFIBUS (DP-V1 master). The CommDTM creates an easy and mobile environment for parameteriza on and maintenance of devices with hardware that fi ts in your pocket. Profi Trace is the tool that contrib-utes to your asset management.

PA Probe Ultra / Tap Connector

PA Probe Ultra Tap Connector Tap Connector DB9-M12

The PA Probe Ultra is a small but high-tech extension for Profi Trace that makes it possible to do elec-trical and protocol measurements directly on the PA bus. With the PA Probe you can use Profi Trace on DP as well as PA networks and fi nally cover all installa ons with 1 tool.

The PA Probe does NOT consume current from the coupler and can also interpret signals which are out of range. It has screw terminals so that the user can easily a ach the PA cable.

The Tap Connector is a cable to con-nect Profi Trace to a DP network.

It has been designed not to cause network disturbances due to spur lines. A perfect ver cal posi on for Profi Trace is obtained that does not overpressure the PG connector on the devices. The cable is of the fl ex-ible type so it can be moved to all direc ons.

The Tap Connector DB9-M12 is a u lity to connect Profi Trace to a DP network which is equipped with M12 connectors.

It has been designed not to cause network disturbances due to spur lines. The cable is of the fl exible type so it can be moved to all direc ons.

It has a 180 degrees DB9 connector and B-coded male and female M12 connectors to enable universal use. This u lity can also be used as a general gender changer from DB9 to M12.

Total overviewWith COMbricks the user has the choice to pick a variety of infrastructures and interfaces to create to most reliable industrial networks. All infrastructures can be remotely monitored over Ethernet.

MonitoringPermanent and simultaneous monitoring of 4 PROFIBUS networks is a powerful feature of COMbricks. Global projects and a shortage of (qualifi ed) technical staff members are causing signifi cant capacity problems. A web server with a Profi Trace shell visualises informa on in an understandable format (Profi Trace OE). Because of the web browser, addi onal so ware is NOT required and a constant connec on with a PC to the COMbricks is NOT neces-sary. CommDTMThe FREE COMbricks CommDTM off ers FDT 1.2 based asset management tools powerful Ethernet pass through to access PROFIBUS devices which are connected behind COMbricks repeater modules. The internal DP-V1 class 2 masters are able to drive 2 out of 4 networks divided over the repeater modules. When a network connec on is closed, the user can enter another network. The 2 ac ve networks are managed by 1 or 2 PC Ethernet connec ons.

The CommDTM provides the same auto baudrate detec on facili es as the famous Profi Captain. It detects all buspa-rameters before it goes online.

The Profi Hub C5 is a robust network component for PROFIBUS DP installa ons. It enables long mul -device spur lines and backbone structures with star segments in rough and demanding IP 65 applica ons.

PROFIBUS DP is a high-speed communi-ca on bus that has to comply with strict rules concerning spur lines, because of possible refl ec ons that could lead to com-munica on disturbances. If spur lines or star segments are required, costly investments in repeaters have to be done.

The Profi Hub C5 is a perfect solu on to implement reli-able spur lines in high-speed DP networks. It has the func- onality of 5 galvanic isolated transparent repeaters. This allows

network structures with extended spur lines that individually can handle a maximum of 31 devices and a length equal to the main bus.

Compact PROFIBUS Repeater B1An economic alterna ve for the modern industry

The compact PROFIBUS DP Repeater B1 off ers an economic alterna ve and tackles the technological limita ons of the exis ng repeaters. This fi rst-class network component fulfi ls the electrical, mechanical and diagnos c requirements of the demanding modern industry.

The advanced 12 Mbps core of the B1 is iden cal as the Profi Hub; it can be cascaded unlimitedly and has increased signal strength. It does not have the frustra ng short-circuit bug and the data is constantly monitored for glitches which are digitally fi ltered out. Every channel has on-board switchable termina on and able to drive 31 devices.

The removable screw terminals of the PROFIBUS interface are pinned-out in a way that reversal moun ng of the repeater does not impact exis ng wiring. A DB9 connector is provided for Profi Trace or other maintenance/engineering tools.

The T1 Terminator provides ac ve and reliable termina on for PROFIBUS networks which are based on RS 485. By using this component it is possible to turn off , remove or replace devices without disturbing the bus communica on. This applies in par cular to the devices at the end of the segment.

The T1 has a couple of special features which makes it a very useful infra-structure component; it has a redundant power supply and diagnos c LEDs to indicate the status of each power source. It is also equipped with an addi onal DB9 connector for Profi Trace or other maintenance/engi-neering tool. The DB9 connector can also be used as the primary bus connec on if circumstances so dictate.

The T1-Pepper provides customizable (ac ve) termina on for PROFIBUS segments that do not comply with the standard RS 485 impedance. With rotary switches the impedance of the termina on can be set.

PROFIBUS networks exist that have not been wired with proper cable or where it is mandatory to use exis ng twisted pair cable. The T1-Pepper is an excellent solu on to adapt the termina on to the impedance of the cable. It can also be used to increase the idle line voltage on segments where interference causes communica on disturbances and the large connectors allow spe-cialty cable or more cable stress.

Applica ons • PROFIBUS communica on over non-standard cable. • Idle voltage increaser for EMC sensi ve applica ons. • Impedance tuner for poor segments.

2 Rotary switches manipulate the values of the termina on network. One for the middle resistor and one for the 2 pull-up resistors. The combina on of both set the impedance and the level of the idle voltage. The T1-Pepper is a partner product for the COMbricks SALT repeater that requires termina- on at the other side of the cable. The rotary switches have to be set iden cal at both sides.

The T1-Pepper can be used by all fi eldbuses that require ac ve termina on. It has a redundant power supply and diag-nos c LEDs to indicate the status of each power source. It can be installed on a standard DIN-rail.

Profi Tap Industrial is an interface to perform monitoring on PROFINET networks. It is an essen al tool for PROFINET engineering ac vi es, especially to verify the connec ons and performance of IRT and other real- me applica ons.

The monitor port of switches is unreliable for monitoring; it can be occupied or is not forwarding all traffi c. The load on the Ethernet port of the laptop is also too high with IRT applica- ons because 2 channels are merged in one. The Profi Tap

has a USB link with the laptop that streams the captured messages to the accompanying driver, which emulates an addi onal Ethernet port on the laptop and hands the messages over to any applica on.

PROCENTEC is an accredited PROFIBUS Test Laboratory for the cer fi ca on of PROFIBUS devices. In our laboratory vendors can have their products tested on PROFIBUS compa bility. PROFIBUS Interna onal issues cer fi cates for the tested devices.

A PROFIBUS cer fi cate is more than a marke ng argu-ment for the manufacturer: It stands for the quality of a product. Many end-users only use cer fi ed products in their plants. Currently, more than 1500 PROFIBUS products are cer fi ed.

Full service formulaWe have a team of experienced engineers and testers to support the client. We test the device according to standard-ized test specifi ca ons, but also give recommenda ons and advice about the device on end-user level. We can also support the client at the start of the development with consul ng services, protocol stacks, product development, development tools and even ASICs.

Some mes we discover errors in the hardware or so ware of the device. In those cases we try to solve the error at our loca on to save precious me for the client. It’s our strategy to support the client as much as possible. If an engineer is present during the tes ng, he has the opportunity to benefi t from the knowledge of the experts at PROCENTEC. We have all kinds of components (ASICs, ac ve and passive components) on stock, soldering/de-soldering equipment and specialised personnel who can do hardware adjustments for the client. The necessary equipment is available to update EPROMs or Flash.

An installa on cer fi ca on is a quality assurance for plant-owners that the PROFIBUS and/or PROFINET installa on complies to the standard and is working properly before it is being put into commission. By means of procedural checklists, we will verify that the installa on func ons according to the func onal specifi ca ons.
