We wish all of our competing students the very best and congratulate them for being chosen to represent our school. We know they will do us proud in their behaviour and effort. Parents are welcome to go along and cheer our students on. The event starts at 9.45am and concludes at 2.30, with our students competing in track and field events throughout the course of the day. Participating students will take home a timetable and event list today which will show what time their event(s) will be. Our Social Enterprise Program is proving to be very successful. With the support of Mr Meagher, Mr Cass & Mrs McCleary, our Year 5/6 students ran a very successful stall at the LaTrobe University Market last week, selling their creations, as well as creating many gifts, bought by our students and their families, such as the frames. Our Social Enterprise Program is furthering our students’ understanding and empathy towards those less fortunate, teaching them to discover ways to assist those less fortunate, as well as learning how to run a small business. Thank you to the many students who have brought back their permission forms & payment for our whole school World of Maths Incursion which will be held on Thursday 15 th September. This incursion will include hands-on activities suitable for all year levels and ages, to show children that maths can be fun and engaging. This incursion teaches children how maths can be applied through many real life situations. We hope that all students are able to participate in this activity. An information form is at the end of this newsletter. Thank you to our Parents & Friends Team for coordinating our Father’s Day Stall today. Our students had a vast range of gifts to buy their dad, grandad, uncle, or special friend, which is lovely to show their appreciation on Father’s Day. Thank you to the parent volunteers who assisted our students at our stall. Our Chocolate Drive is now finished and we again ask parents to send in their unsold chocolates and/or $50.00 per chocolate box. There are still quite a number of boxes outstanding and we hope to have all of the boxes accounted for asap. Thank you for your support in this fundraising event, which is one of our highest fundraising events for the year. As was announced at our recent assemblies, on Monday 12 th September Mike Larkin from Channel 10 will be presenting his evening weather report at our school! We are very excited to have this opportunity and hope to have as many students and families come along. Our Parents & Friends Team will hold a sausage sizzle from 5.00pm and there will be various activities for our students to enjoy. We ask that all students who come along to this event be in their full school uniform. Our staff are once again participating in Relay for Life which is an event raising money for The Cancer Council. Our staff team would welcome donations towards our team which can be made online or simply through our Relay for Life donation box at our office. Our good friends, Gloria Jeans Polaris, have offered to donate a percentage of drinks sold at their café on Monday 12 th September between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. We encourage as many parents to go along to Gloria Jeans Polaris to support our team. Our District Athletics Team will compete tomorrow at Meadowglen Athletics Track. Dear Parents/Caregivers,

WORLD OF MATHS ROADSHOW

Numeracy is a compulsory component of our curriculum, and to make numeracy fun and relevant to our students, we have arranged for the World of Maths Roadshow to visit our school. The World of Maths Roadshow is an ideal opportunity for students to see how maths is applied to some real life situations.

More importantly, students will be engaged in hands-on activities that will cater for all ability levels and probe their problem solving skills. It is a highly engaging session which will show the children that Maths can be fun!
