NEW SENIOR APPOINTMENTAT AL MUNTAZIR ISLAMIC SEMINARY

The COVID 19 situation has affected and altered many ways of lives, and school closures has been among the first initiatives taken by our Government and many other Governments of other affected nations to contain the spread of this deadly disease. We at Al Muntazir Schools quickly responded to the situation and have rolled out a virtual learning system with a core conviction that education provision should continue. Our Schools launched their Online E Learning platform through EDMODO from 24th March, and we have observed a very high level of engagement from both students and parents through activations, feedback and commendations. This digital platform serves as a space where teachers, students and parents can undergo the learning process through Educational resources that provide curriculum support.

With the Online Learning portal settled, our schools have now ventured into the next stage of providing Online Classroom sessions with students, allowing students to benefit from an interactive virtual class. We are hopeful that this initiative will further benefit learners and comfort parents as students will be continuing with learning uninterrupted. We are thankful to our Teachers, IT Team and Schools management for making this initiative real, and we seek feedback as we continuously improve education delivery.

For further information, please reach out via contacts of the schools and our email [email protected]

We wish and pray for everyone’s safety and wellbeing in these trying times.

The start of preschool is a milestone that’s often anticipated with great excitement and joy for children and parents. At Toddlers, the first day of School was a perfect opportunity for parents to meet their child’s caregivers. The focus is to make the transition calm and comfortable and to get children acquainted to the caregivers, friends, school environment and routine.

Even though, some children had tears flowing when they arrived, they left with smiles and hugs after the fun filled first day of School.

With the aim of initiating a harmonious learning process between home and school and in order to familiarize parents with the institutional ethos, Al Muntazir Union Nursery School (AMUNS) organized an orientation programme for the parents and newly inducted students.

The event embodied Subject tours to different classrooms, the Montessori hall, the Swimming pool, Sand/Water play, Library and Sports area via several interactive and engaging activities. Some explanation and discussions on how skills can be reinforced in the learners to achieve developmental milestones were also shared. This in turn helped parents in getting an insight about the curriculum and teaching pedagogy of the school.

A DAY THROUGH THE LENSES OF AMSEN

On Friday 7th February 2020, AMSEN hosted its first Coffee Morning. The event was aimed towards starting a conversation amongst parents, teachers and school administration regarding the current and future efforts for the students.

The morning started with important housekeeping messages relayed to parents. Soon after, teachers discussed regarding some important skills done within AMSEN, such as ADL skills, Behaviour modification and Occupational therapy, process to inclusion in mainstream classes and pathway to employment.

It was an incredibly positive experience, where parents had an opportunity to interact with each other too, and share their journey which often times is difficult but always supported by AMSEN.

AMSEN is hoping to further strengthen this bond to enhance the future of AMSEN students.

Family support involves knowing that there is someone out there who is supportive of you unconditionally. Grandparents are figures who provide their wisdom to not only support but many times they are an invaluable place of love and care. For many working families, grandparents become the unspoken guardians and advocates for our students.

09

I N C L U S I O N @ A L M I SOnce again, AMSEN is gleaming with pride and pure joy! Inclusion in mainstream schooling offers students with opportunities to grow and a platform to express their potential. Sahil is one of the first students from AMSEN to start classes at Al Muntazir Seminary School.

Inclusion in selected classes allows for social and academic immersion whilst ensuring not to overwhelm the students with excessive demands.

AMSEN students have over the years performed extremely well in inclusive school settings and students in the inclusion program have responded with greater determination. The ultimate goal of AMSEN is to promote inclusive opportunities for all, and we are proud to be moving in the right direction!

It is heart warming to see the support that was offered from the administration, teachers, students and the security team at Al Muntazir Islamic Seminary. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm and are hoping to grow stronger with your support!

To appreciate and celebrate the innumerable love and support that grandparents provide, AMSEN celebrated the Grandparents Day on Friday 28th February 2020. AMSEN hosted health screening to ensure our grandparents were in their best health and then continued with some fun activities which were completed by the grandparent and the grandchild. Indoors grandparents and their grand sons and daughters enjoyed arts, stitching & crocheting, weaving with banana leaf, making fruity skewers and getting a much deserved massage! Outdoors they became sporty with some ball activities, planting seeds and turned to pirates in an AMSEN treasure hunt! The smile on the faces of Bibis and Babus reaffirmed the importance of valuing them and celebrating them. It was amazing to see the support the students at AMSEN gave to their grandparents and the support they received in return.Let's all appreciate our grandparents whose unconditional love nurtures our future!

A special shout out to the KSIJ Central Medical Board and Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre for assisting with the Health screening.

Literacy Programs have one simple focus: to get children excited about reading. We see this as the second step to a library donation. Once a library is in place, it is essential to properly introduce children to a world filled with books.

The AMBPS management leaves no stone unturned to provide the structure, framework and support for all teaching activities. The team continuously implements strategies designed to improve student overall performance. To accomplish the goal of preparing successful students, the school carefully selects the effective resources to provide students with relevant learning experiences.

Science allows students to explore their world and discover new things. It is also an active subject, containing activities such as hands- on labs and experiments. This makes science well-suited to active younger children. Science is an important part of the foundation for education for all children. Science at primary school should nurture this curiosity and allow them to ask questions and develop the skills they need to answer those questions.

PRACTICAL SCIENCE

This year to aid developing science learning at Lower school a separate room has been created at AMBPS. Inquiry-based experiments will make students more active in their learning environment. The room is already in use and children have all good reviews about it. Learning Science is Fun!

The Reading Room

This year to facilitate and reinforce literacy at Lower school an individual Reading room has been created. The room provides opportunity for students to engage in active learning through reading. Children are enjoying the space which encourages independent learning, intellectual curiosity and helps spark a passion for reading.

WORLD MATH DAY

The Al Muntazir Boys Primary School joined 20,000 schools around the world in a huge celebration of Mathematics and a love of learning! World Maths Day was celebrated on Wednesday, 4th March by the 4th graders as a chance to take their skills to the test, practice math, and get involved in a worldwide event that celebrates the history of math and improve the lives of students, parents, and teachers everywhere.

Math is known as one of the hardest subjects to achieve because of its strictness in needing correct answers, its abstract concepts, and the overall stress involved in succeeding. Engaging in the math activities allowed our students to improve speed and accuracy in their arithmetic and numeracy skills.

Students built math towers to practice their Number skills, Roll the dice was played for reinforcing place value and number skills and Let’s Measure together activity to investigate length of real objects.Indeed, the Maths Day provided us with a great opportunity to do something different from the usual maths lessons and experience maths in the real world with themed games and activities. Students worked in groups to engage and have fun with Numbers!

Swimming lessons are important because they help teach a child not only proper swimming techniques, but also encourages them to be independent in the water. Swimming lessons are a great way to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for children. Because of all the active movements included in swimming, kids develop strength and endurance. In addition, swimming enhances the flexibility and balance of the body.

AMBPS SWIMMING LESSONS

The students of Al Muntazir Boys Primary participate in swimming lessons on a weekly basis. This provides an opportunity to boost their development in all areas including physically, socially and emotionally. The students participate whole-heartedly and really enjoy their sessions.

Swimming benefits for kids include mental and physical development, improvement of social skills and confidence and as well as building skills for safety. While swimming together with other children, kids develop a valuable social engagement which helps them to improve their social skills outside of school too. Due to the stimulation of young kid’s senses regularly swimming improves brain and emotional development. Due to the increase of endorphins in the brain, swimming help kids to effectively relieve their stress.

The Al Muntazir Schools are embarking on a year long campaign to prevent bullying and to inspire and empower students to take positive action by reinforcing a culture of kindness and encouragement. The campaign was officially launched on Friday, March 13th 2020 at all campuses. At Al Muntazir Boys Primary School, the launch event was initiated with the recitation of the Holy Quran and singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, students from all grades participated in an Anti-Bullying march around the school grounds holding various posters carrying messages regarding bullying and how it can be prevented. Teachers also joined in the march showing their support for the campaign. This was then followed by a short talk by our guest speaker, Mr. Farhan Yusuf. Mr. Farhan is a medical professional and a youth mentor who briefed the students on various forms of bullying and how we as peers can support each other to prevent bullying in our schools. He inspired the students to think about why bullies bully and how we can assist those that are bullying to deter the negative behaviour. His tagline was ‘'People who are hurt, hurt people’.

ANTI BULLYING CAMPAIGN

12

The program was wrapped up with a performance by the prefect body, who presented real-life examples of the different forms of bullying through short skits. We concluded the program with the teachers coming together to pledge towards supporting the school becoming bully-free! In honor of the launch, our students and staff also wore odd socks to symbolize that we should accept one another and celebrate each other’s differences. We look forward to seeing the impact of this year’s campaign!

Although parents have a good understanding of what bullying is and the negative effects it can have on children, they typically believe that their children are less involved in bullying (as victims and as perpetrators of bullying) than their children report. Talking with kids about bullying helps them understand what it is, why it is harmful, and how to respond. Therefore, it is important to discuss and practice what they can do when they encounter bullying. Children learn by example and reflect the attitudes and behaviors of their parents/caregivers. Problems in the family environment may increase the likelihood of bullying. Although bullying is a sensitive topic, it is one that needs urgent attention. As a result, the Al Muntazir Boys Primary School hosted a parental seminar on Friday, 21st February 2020 titled, ‘Beyond Sticks and Stones: What Parents Should Know About Bullying’. The seminar was facilitated by the school counselor, Mrs. Sakina Dharsee, who shared key information related to bullying and how we can assist both the targets of bullying and the bullies themselves. She also shared some silent signs of bullying that students may exhibit, therefore encouraging parents to be more observant of their child’s behavior. The session also covered key details on how the school combats bullying and what support is offered to students.

PARENTAL WORKSHOP - ANTI BULLYING

The session was then concluded with parents releasing the Anti-Bullying Kites created by the students to symbolically represent that we are rising above bullying as a school. These kites were delicately created by the students with careful attention to detail, all to represent their support against bullying in school. We received an overwhelming response of 500 kites from the students!

Sharing of feedback with the Parents, on the learning milestones achieved by the students is a crucial aspect of the process of Teaching and Learning. Appropriate and comprehensive reporting can improve Students’ Confidence, Self-Awareness, Enthusiasm for Learning and Gaining New Knowledge and thus enhancing the Learning Skills. It can also have information about the areas of learning or skills that need to be worked on more diligently.

The Report Day held at the AMGPS Campus provided relevant information about the Students’ progress to both Parents and Learners. It also motivated parents to be more involved in their child’s learning process and to support the Teachers so that they can both work hand in hand for the enhancement of their child’s learning and overall academic progress during the Academic Year 2020.We are grateful to our Parents who have always supported the School in its endeavours to ensure that the Students have a great learning experience.

What is E-Learning?

Did you know that almost everyone who uses a computer has completed some type of e-learning? Perhaps it was called web-based training, or online learning, or computer-based training, but it’s all under the same e-learning umbrella. E-learning can encompass a wide variety of online initiatives.

A good, broad way to think about e-learning is the use of electronic devices (computers, tablets, or phones) to deliver educational or training content to learners.

This article will focus on e-learning course development and content authoring, and then explore what it is, why it’s valuable, and much more. So if you’re interested in finding out more about e-learning in general, you’ve come to the right place. Read on!

Many people would recognize a basic e-learning course as a slide-based online activity that contains simple navigation buttons (such as Next and Back) and incorporates quizzes with true/false or multiple choice questions.

But not all e-learning courses share the same fingerprint. For example, it could be an inherently responsive web-based course that allows learners to have a great learning experience no matter what device they’re using to view their course. Or maybe it’s a software simulation that demonstrates the click-path through an application. Or an interactive course that features role-playing and complex decision-making.

How Do We Define E-Learning?

E-learning offers many benefits that more traditional training options, such as facilitated sessions or lectures, don’t provide. For example, e-learning ....

Why Is E-Learning Valuable?

Can be either an asynchronous or synchronous activity: Traditionally, e-learning has beenasynchronous, which means there is no predetermined time for the learning to take place. Everyone can go at their own pace, and take their time to learn what they need to know, when they need to know it. However, more synchronous e-learning is now being offered through web conferencing and chat options. The great thing about e-learning is it gives you the option to do either or both.

Why Is E-Learning Valuable?Has a global reach: E-learning can simply be placed online and easily accessed by people around the world. There is no need for expensive travel or meetings across multiple time zones.

Spans multiple devices/mobile: Online courses can work on computers as well as on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. This means e-learning courses can literally be in the hands of the people who need them at all times.

Is just-in-time/needs-based: E-learning authoring software is so easy to use that anyone can create, publish, and share a course within a few hours, allowing you to provide people with resources and training they can access right when they need it.

Is more efficient: With e-learning, you can develop a course that can be distributed electronically to thousands instead of having to organize in-person training sessions whenever people need to be brought up to speed.

Reduces costs: All of the abovementioned factors result in a cost savings for organizations that use e-learning courses to replace some of their traditional instructor-led training.

Allows for consistent quality and content: When you develop an e-learning course, you can deliver the same message to all learners consistently. In classroom training, the message, equipment, and other conditions can vary widely from one session to the next, which can affect the outcome of the course.

In the early days, e-learning courses were typically custom creations, coded by programmers and developers using highly specialized apps. In those days, it could easily require an entire team to create a simple, linear e-learning course. E-learning design is now much more accessible. Today’s course development apps, also called authoring tools or authoring apps, are so advanced that anyone can create e-learning courses—without any programming or coding knowledge.

There are many different types of authoring apps out there today, each with their own set of capabilities. Some apps, like Rise 360, have been specifically engineered to create e-learning courses that dynamically adapt to any screen size (also known as responsive e-learning courses). Other apps, like Storyline 360, are designed to create highly interactive slide-based courses. And of course there are also PowerPoint add-ons like Studio 360, which make turning PowerPoint presentations into e-learning courses a snap. Each app has a unique feature set, making it particularly well suited for a specific type of project. When you’re trying to decide which authoring app to use, always start by looking at your project requirements and objectives.

How Do You Create E-Learning Courses?

Once you’ve created an e-learning course, you need to distribute it to learners. There are many ways to do this, and—like everything else related to e-learning—those ways are constantly evolving and improving. Here, I’d like to look at two ways to share content: informal distribution and formal distribution.

Informal Distribution: Informal distribution of e-learning content typically means users are trusted to view the e-learning course, and their participation isn’t tracked or scored. One way to informally share an e-learning course is to put it on a web server, then send participants the link and have them view the course. You don’t really have a systematic way of knowing whether learners have completed the course, but sometimes that’s not necessary.

Formal Distribution: Sharing an e-learning course formally means there’s a need to track and record learner results. Most organizations that have a need for formal distribution of e-learning have specific systems and standards in place for this. Tracking is usually done in what is called a Learning Management System (LMS). An LMS allows you to administer, track, report, and document the delivery of your e-learning courses.

How Is E-Learning Shared?

Many factors contribute to a successful e-learning program, but the top two are:

1. A production process that uses the right apps 2. Solid instructional design

Let’s take a closer look at these two essential elements.

What Makes an E-LearningProject Successful?

The Bottom LineE-learning course development is constantly evolving. Authoring apps will continue to improve; however, your focus should remain on using those apps to create the best e-learning possible.

In its relatively short history, e-learning has come a long way, and offers immeasurable opportunities to help people learn better.

Powerful apps let you create the functionality and interactivity that you want for your learners. They help you make e-learning that looks and works great, which goes a long way toward a successful e-learning course.

The more user-friendly the app, the less time you’ll spend on technical issues. This frees you up to commit to the instructional design to craft a greatlearning experience.

Apps

One way organizations measure the success of an e-learning project is by how much the learner’s knowledge and skills have improved after they’ve taken the course. To provide your learners with the best odds, you should have content that is designed in an instructionally sound manner. Instructional design is all about creating educational experiences that maximize learning and present content in the most effective way.

If you’re new to instructional design, I recommend reading up on the basics to help you create instructionally sound courses with solid learning objectives. You can have the most fabulous-looking course in the world, but if the content quality isn’t top-notch, it won’t have the impact you desire.
