Almost entirely with text and only a few images, Daniel Gustav Cramer encircles the work and daily life of Brian, one of the last remaining orrery makers, who constructs miniature solar systems in a small hut in the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. For each of his late visits, the artist decides to place a micro-phone outside Brian’s hut, pointing upwards, to record the night sound. They meet three times. None of the conversations between the two are documented. Image-excerpts and text frag-ments focus on details of this intimate world, which seems to exist outside space and time. Inner and outer cosmos, memory, fiction and reality as well as episodes in the discovery of the world and outer space overlap and form a fragmentary narrative of this strange encounter.

Le belvédère, 2012Two characters and sculpturesCourtesy of the artist

Adélaïde Feriot sets up a four-day long tableau vivant. Two wo-men, same size and similar appearance, enter the room where two wax cones are waiting for them on the floor. Each character takes her cone and positions it against her face, as a geometri-cal extension of the self. After a long while holding this posi-tion, they quit their poses, prostheses are put on the ground, as a slough, sluggish accessory, and become sculptures. Two other identical women enter the space and take their places. Here the archives’ décor becomes forgotten, while the focus stays on the immobile tension of the bodies, and the contemplative dimen-sion of the pose.

FREEZE (divided sensations), 2012Sound InstallationCourtesy of the artist

Phillip Sollmann presents a four-channel sound piece that ex-tends through four different spaces, divided by thick doors. Al-though acoustically disconnected, each channel acts as one voice out of the whole composition, which can not be heard in its totality. Each of the four rooms is equipped with an impressive monophonic tower-speaker, as found in techno-clubs and big music events these days.
