Before you start your studies you need to formally register as a student with Leeds Trinity. Once you are registered you are eligible to receive your student loan. It’s not difficult to do and we’re here to help if needed. In order for Leeds Trinity to operate effectively and meet our legal obligations to all our students it is essential that we have your correct and most up to date personal details. We take this data from your application form (eg UCAS form) directly from you via the registration process and from the updates you make to your personal data during the course of your studies. The information we hold is covered by the Data Protection Act 1998.

Your e:Vision accounte:Vision is a web facility which allows you to keep track of your personal student details. Through your e:Vision account, you can view the personal details we hold about you, information about your course, module registration and results. You can also update your contact details at any time during the academic year. Leeds Trinity will send you important e-messages via your e:Vision account so you need to make sure you check your account regularly. Course and module registration will take place electronically via e:Vision. You can access your e:Vision account before you arrive by visiting www.leedstrinity.ac.uk/intro and selecting ‘Registration for New Students’. You will then be able to access the following window.

Your username and password is included on a separate sheet in this pack. It will give you access to your e:vision account and the rest of our network. Please read and retain the information sheet provided.

Foundation degree students are required to register on campus on Monday 10 September. Undergraduate honours degree students are required to register on campus on Tuesday 25 September. Postgraduate registration dates are dependent on the course. For further details please refer to page 4.

Please refer to your INTRO events timetable, on the web www.leedstrinity.ac.uk/intro, for confirmation of the date, time and location (Andrew Kean Learning Centre or Gym) of your registration session.

At the registration session you will be asked to complete a final check of your personal details via your e:Vision account. You must complete this final check in order to proceed to stage 3 of the registration process. Your personal details confirmation will state whether you have FULL or PROVISIONAL registration status. If all the required admission clearance criteria have been met (for example, proof of your entry qualifications, satisfactory CRB Enhanced Disclosure certificate, if appropriate) you will be given FULL registration status.

If any of the required admission clearance criteria have not been met by registration day, you will be given PROVISIONAL registration status only. Provisional registration is a temporary status which allows you to undertake study and use the computing and library facilities, but it will not allow you to receive any funding that may be due to you (for example, student loan, bursary).

If you have PROVISIONAL registration status a member of Student Administration staff will explain what you need to do in order to obtain FULL registration. If you are in any doubt as to your current admission clearance status, you should contact Student Administration immediately on 0113 283 7123 or [email protected]

Your course is made up of modules. A full-time undergraduate student is required to register for a total of 120 module credits (usually 6 modules). For some courses all the modules you need to study are compulsory (core modules) so there are no module selections to make. For other courses there is an element of choice and you will be required to select your module preferences.

You may have already made initial module selections during STAGE 1 of the registration process. Please discuss these proposed selections with your progress tutor when you arrive at Leeds Trinity. Once you have chosen the modules you wish to study (these must total 120 credits) you should log on to your e:Vision account and confirm your final module selections. Module selections must be submitted via e:Vision by Friday 5 October.

Further guidance about the module registration process and details of any module choices you are required to make can be found in the online programme of study catalogue which can be accessed via your e:Vision account.

Student finance checklist - What to do before you arrive

Item

Make sure you have applied for your student funding (see above) and that you have provided your funding body with all the information they need, including proof of your identity, your parents’ /partner’s financial details (and evidence) etc. If you are unsure you should check with your relevant funding body. Student Finance England can be contacted on 0845 300 5090.

If you have to send anything to Student Finance England always send it recorded delivery to Student Finance England, PO Box 210, Darlington, DL1 9HJ.

Make sure you keep a record (somewhere safe) of your Customer Reference Number (CRN), password and secret answer. Student Finance England can only talk to you about your funding if you can provide them with those details.

When you receive your ‘notification of entitlement’ letter from Student Finance England (a copy of this should also be posted to the ‘view correspondence’ section of your online student finance account at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance), check that you are getting all the loans and grants you requested and that ‘Leeds Trinity University College’ is the institution recorded on the letter. Check that your tuition fee is correct. For full time undergraduate honours courses the fee in 2012/13 is £8,000.

If you applied online then along with your ‘notification of entitlement’ letter you should receive an ‘online declaration form’. You must sign and return this form to the Student Loans Company (the address should be on the top right of the form). You must send this form to the Student Loans Company in order for them to be able to make the payments of your loans and grants.

If your ‘notification of entitlement’ letter shows that you have only been provided with basic student funding, don’t panic. This might be because Student Finance England have not yet been able to financially assess your parents’ / partner’s details as the information is still in the processing queue. If you are unsure if you have sent Student Finance England all the required information you should check with them on 0845 300 5090.

Make sure (if relevant to your course) you have completed your Criminal Records Bureau check / Health Declaration / provided all certificates (eg GCSE) that Leeds Trinity has requested. If these things are not completed by the start of term your student funding cannot be paid to you (until they are completed).

Other facilitiesA wide selection of food and drink, cooked meals, snacks, salads and sandwiches are available all year round from our dining room, cafe bars or campus bar. There is a small shop facility located in the dining room which sells newspapers, toiletries, stationery and confectionery and a free-to-use cash machine located in the lobby of the Student Support area. A privately-run day nursery for children aged 6 months to 5 years is available. There is also a launderette on campus open seven days per week.

Safety and securityWe work hard to ensure that our campus is a safe place to work and socialise. Leeds Trinity security staff are on duty 24 hours a day, all year round.

Leeds Trinity also works closely with the Leeds Student Liaison Offices from the West Yorkshire police who hold monthly drop-in sessions on campus. The Knowledge campaign is a partnership of organisations in Leeds working together to improve life in the city for students, allowing you to get the best out of Leeds and make your time here as enjoyable as possible. The Knowledge website at www.knowledge-leeds.co.uk has up to date and correct information about crime within the student areas and Leeds itself. It’s about the Police, the Universities and the Students’ Unions working together.
