REDUCEFOR A BETTERPLANET USE

INTRAMA is a Bulgarian-German company with over 25 years of experience in providing complete pack-aging solutions for the food industry. INTRAMA is member of the global UN initiative SAVE FOOD which have the intention to reduce the waste of food. Through its multi-layer barrier packaging solutions, INTRAMA is providing its contribution to reducing food waste globally. As the biggest producer of multi-layer barrier packing in Bulgaria and as a responsible company with an active position on environment protection, INTRAMA presents its sustainability program REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE. The program is a result of intensive research and anal-ysis of the market trends, customer needs and of the influence of political, economic, socio-cultural, tech-nological, legal and environmental factors.

The program long-term objectives are increasing the efficiency of the multi-layer barrier packaging by reducing the raw materials being used. This way, INTRAMA simultaneously reduces the volume of food waste and decreases the environmental impact of its flexible packaging.

The final target set for REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE is to work on a continuous process to implement the program successively at all customers of INTRAMA. Moreover, latest innovations of production technology should continuously have influence on the program REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE.

The instrumentarium for achieving the goals of REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE program is a consequence of INTRAMA's long experience in providing complete packaging solutions for the food industry.

The process of engineering state of the art flexible packaging films for our program REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE has gone through a number of stages. The actual result is the thinnest 11-layer high-barrier film in the world for packaging with traysealers and flowpack machines.

REDUCEFOR A BETTERPLANET USE

INTRAMA's ultra-thin 35 microns film is manufactured with a variety of functionalities and consistent prod-

uct quality. Depending on the requirements of prod-uct packed and the packaging technology, it can be

with anti-fog for excellent product presentation, with hot-tack for fast speed machines, with low or high friction coefficient for excellent packaging process.

When packaging with Thermoforming line, the developed film is based on hundreds of tests of films with thermo-forming machines from different manu-facturers in a real working environment.

The result is reducing the thickness of the top films for thermoform-ing with medium gas barrier to the necessary minimum of 60 microns in order to guarantee the barrier properties of the pack-aging and the safety of the product packed.

Due to the wide variety of the products and the strict individuality of the shape, type, size and requirements of the prod-uct packed, our bottom films for thermo-forming machines are tailor-made for

each project. However, we use only top-quality raw material, test our bottom films’s mechanical properties on a daily bases at our laboratory. Also for bottom films we have carried out hundreds of tests on thermoforming machines by different manufacturers in real working environment. This has allowed us to reduce the thick-ness of the currently used bottom film by 5.5% and guarantee the same shelf life and excellent quality of the package.
