• As per strategic plan (2011-2015) priority BRAC initiated an integrated programme for socio-economically depressed regions which are falling behind on MDG achievement
• For understanding the context and developing IDP several meetings, field visits, discussions/consultations, need assessments and census carried out between 2011-2012 and finally IDP-Haor started its’ implementation since January, 2013
• IDP-Haor is being implemented through it’s10 offices in Baniachong Upazila and 5 offices in Derai Upazila
• A total of 624 regular and 212 project staff have been hired, trained and deployed in Baniachong and Derai Upazila

GoalTo improve the socio-economic condition of the Haor dwellers and ensure sustainable livelihoods through an integrated development approach.
Objectives• To ensure Haor dwellers access to basic education, health, water and
sanitation services
• To enhance Haor dwellers access to sustainable livelihood opportunities with focus on increasing farm based production, diversification and improved market linkages
• To enhance capacity of the poor community and local authority to access local available GO/NGO services/resources, to rise voices against exploitations/injustices and to exercise leadership in promoting pro-poor development
• To test a pilot model in an integrated development approach to tackle multi-dimensional poverty in Haor area for future scale up.

Village Development Organization (VDO)
• One PO is responsible for 250-300 HHs (Based on hati) and providing all program services
• A VDO is formed with 25-40 members
• One Shyastho Sebika is responsible for 50-60 HHs (Based on hati)
• One SK is supervising 5-6 Shyastho Sebikas activities
• One Branch Manager is supervising 5 to 6 POs activities

Learning from Common Platform• One PO is providing all Program services• Less staff is involved for implementation• Reduced number of visit by different program staff to the

• Project is being implemented since January 2012 in 5 chars of Noakhali (Hatiya and Subornorchar) funded by IFAD, GoB and Government of Netherlands
• 12,741 households are targeted under :-Micro-finance & capacity building-Legal & human rights-Health & family planning-Disaster management & climate changes-Agriculture & value chain development -WatSan
• Delivering service from 6 branches
• 112 program personnel are working under the project
• 9,820 members has been admitted in 431 VOs
• Two Brach offices to be relocated due to establishment of Army

• Implementation started from July, 2012 in Joypurhat, Naogaon and Dinajpur districts as pilot basis.
• Total 40,000 Indigenous peoples (approximate) are targeted under 4 upazilas
• All staffs are recruited from Indigenous community• Community, including local leaders and authorities are showing very positive response
GoalsThe project’s goals is to empower indigenous peoples through improved livelihood opportunities, leadership and cultural practices and advocacy supports in an integrated development approach
