INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTING
YOUR PC TO A BLAST CHILLER USING HACCP SOFTWARE.
PURPOSE OF HACCP SOFTWARE. HACCP software imports all IRINOX blast chiller cycles into a computer. It automatically records:
- air temperature - product temperature (when working in AUTOMATIC mode) - length of the blast chilling or shock freezing phase - length of the holding phase - type of cycle (LOGIK, SOFT, HARD, HARD PLUS and FREEZING) - machine model with photograph - cycle start and stop date and time - any alarms or other events
As will be explained below, it can also provide more detailed data about each cycle, for example product name, weight and thickness, for better monitoring of the manufacturing process.

1) CONNECTING A BLAST CHILLER TO A PC. There are two ways of connecting a blast chiller to a PC: by direct connection through an RS232 serial port, or through an RS485 mod-bus connection which allows a PC to be connected to up to 32 blast chillers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

onnection for LC models is on the front of the machine and is a 9 pin (PC type) connector. The machine data is to be downloaded should be connected to this. The connector on HC models is optional and should d when placing an order or may be fitted later by replacing the panel and adding a cable supplied by the er.
2
2) DIRECT CONNECTION. With this type of connection there is a 5 metre distance limit between the PC and the blast chiller. To set up a connection between the PC and the LC51, LC101/35 and all HC models, the following conditions apply:
1) Dip switch no. 3 located on the electronic card must be ON (the default setting is OFF). 2) During communication the blast chiller must be in standby mode, i.e. it must not be running a cycle 3) Start up the software on the PC, connect the PC to the blast chiller with the 9 pin serial cable and download
data 4) Once the download is complete the blast chiller can be used.
DIP SWITCH LOCATION
To set up a connection between the PC and the models from LC101/50 to LC602/750, the following conditions apply:
1) Dip switch no. 4 located on the back of the front card (control panel) must be ON (the default setting is OFF). 2) During communication the blast chiller must be in standby mode, i.e. it must not be running a cycle. 3) To enable communication click the PRINT CYCLE button. The word TRASMISSIONE (TRANSMISSION) will
then appear on the display. 4) Start up the software on the PC, connect the PC to the blast chiller with the serial cable and download data. 5) At the end of transmission click the PRINT CYCLE button again to exit transmission mode.

3) MOD-BUS CONNECTION With this type of connection blast chiller/s can be up to 1 kilometre away and up to 32 blast chillers can be connected to a single PC. To set up the connection use a shielded 2 x 0,5 mm cable. The mod-bus card is fitted to the machine’s electrical system. LC – HC Series

Use the dip switches KD3 and KD2 to set the MOD BUS address, as shown in the following table.
WARNING!! Do not move KD4 and KD5
To verify connections follow the sequence of lighting LEDs: - DL1 is ON - DL2 lights ON after few seconds - DL4 makes a flash after few seconds - DL1 starts to blink when receives first correct input from the PC

SCAN MOD-BUS ADDRESSES TO FIND CONNECTED MACHINES (DO THIS ONLY THE FIRST TIME THE PROGRAMME IS LAUNCHED, OR IF A MACHINE IS ADDED). IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS RECOGNISING ONE OR MORE BLAST CHILLERS CHECK THAT CONNECTIONS ARE SOUND, THAT THE PC SERIAL PORT IS FREE. THAT THE RS232-RS485 CONVERTER HAS POWER AND THAT BLAST CHILLERS HAVE POWER AND ARE ON STANDBY.
