First and foremost I would like to thank LESTARI Graduate Committee for the hard work in preparing this graduate handbook.

The main purpose of this handbook is to give information as a guideline to the current and future graduates of LESTARI in conducting their research work. This handbook aims at helping the graduate candidates to understand procedures, rules and their responsibility during their studies at LESTARI. This handbook, I hope will help improve graduate research quality and increase number of publications and at the same time develop their interpersonal skill. We hope that all facilities provided by LESTARI will help graduate candidates significantly.

Graduate studies is one of LESTARI’s core businesses. Therefore, LESTARI always looks at graduate research as part of our research agenda and research development. In the end of 2011, LESTARI was granted with the status of Potential Higher Education Centre of Excellence (HiCoE) by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). This recognition has further enhanced LESTARI’s status as a research institute whose focus is on environment and sustainable development.

Finally I wish all graduate students to enjoy your time and studies at LESTARI and all the best in your research.

Many thanks.
