Installation and Configuration of P6 EPPM Client.

My Infrastructure:

1. My P6 EPPM DB and Applications are running in 64 bit Oracle Linux VM.

2. I am going to install P6 EPPM Clinet in 64 bit Windows 7.

Note:

1. Even tough your windows is 64 bit OS, Install 32 bit DB client. If you install 64 bit DB client, while configuring P6 client you will face issue to connect with P6 EPPM database. Bad public user name or password. Cannot load OCI DLL: oci.dll.

2. Irrespective of 64 bit or 32 bit, goahed for 32 bit DB client. 3. P6 EPPM client is common for both 32 bit and 64 bit OS. 4. Dont install the DB Client and P6 Client in C:\Program Files (x86) if it is a 64 bit OS.

Installation of DB Clinet:

Run setup.exe

Select Administrator

Configuration of DB Clinet:

Go to All Programs -> Oracle OraClient11g_home1 -> Configuration and Migration Tools -> Net

Manager.

Select Service Naming and on Left top corner click + to start with configuration.

Enter the Service Name which you would like to.

Give the DB details. As mentioned earlier my DB is running in Linux Host and above are the details.

Click Test and it will fail.

Click Change Login.

Then click Test.

Then click Close.

Click Finsih.

Then, on top of left corner, Go to File -> Save Network Configuration.

Go to command prompt and verify the path, tnsping and so on as shown below.

Note: I have created PMDB as a service name.

3. Try connecting with your schema user and PMDB configuration

Set the environment variable.

Install P6 Client.

P6 client is common for both 32 and 64 bit os. V46367-01 (32 bit) and V46367-01 (64 bit)

Setup will install the complete P6 Professional (including .Net framework, XE DB, Professional Client)

So use, P6Pro to start the installation, since we are using EPPM DB.

Select Advanced.

Change the destination folder by clicking Browse. Dont install in C:\Program Files (x86) since it may

cause problem while connecting to DB.

Click Install.

Then it will prompt to the below screen.

You can navigate to the below screen from All Programs -> Oracle Primavera P6 -> P6 Professional

R8.3.2 -> P6 Professional R8.3.2.

By default it will take PMDB as a Database alias.

Connection string is not DB SID. It is the one which you created as Service name in your DB client.

Give your P6 user name and password.

Click OK.
