1. JOB PURPOSE AND MAIN AIMS a) To supervise Patchway & Downend Sports Centre during community use opening hours and ensure that facilities are suitably prepared and organised to a high standard to enable members of the public, organisations and clubs to use during community use hours. 2. 1. JOB PURPOSE AND MAIN AIMS

2. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(a) To supervise the safety and security of the facility whilst open to community use:

(i) Ensure security of the site by checking that locks to buildings, courts and the main entrance are working correctly, and that they are secure when the facility is not in use.

(ii) Report any misuse/vandalism/trespassing on the relevant form.

(b) To ensure that patrons are using facilities in the correct and proper manner, including:

(i) Checking correct footwear is worn and equipment used.(iii) Ensure correct equipment is available, in place and safe for users and that it is safety stored at the end of

the booking.

(iv) Booking out/in of equipment, monitoring use and checking for loss or damage on return.

(v) Control use of floodlights and recording hours of use when directed.

(vi) Deal with lost property following the Dual Use procedures.(vi) Report any unauthorised incident on the relevant form.(vii) Record, monitor and order stock as necessary.

(c) Undertake daily site checks/monitoring of all facilities and equipment for repair/maintenance/loss and damage and report any damage/defect on relevant reporting forms.

(d) Undertake general cleaning duties both inside buildings and outside around the site.

(e) Carry out administration reception duties as and when necessary:

(i) Answer queries and complaints from the public.(ii) Take bookings and inputting on to XN booking system.(iii) Receive money for casual use of facilities and payments of invoices/block bookings.(iv) Handle and control/monitor cash reconciliation, operation of cash tills, floats, recording cash and overall security in the unit.

(v) Monitor, control equipment and vending stock, as required.

(f) To administer first aid and emergency procedures when appropriate.

(g) Attend staff meetings/training sessions as required.

(h) Provide coaching/officiating and assistance with coaching/officiating as and when required.

3. JOB CONTEXT

During operational shifts the post-holder is expected to work largely on his/her own initiative.

The dual use group is comprised of the following facilities:

Downend Sports Centre 4-court sports hall All Weather pitch (Football training and 7-a-side football league) Outdoor floodlit hard court (3 tennis courts) Outdoor normal hard courts (3 tennis courts) Cricket nets

Patchway Sports Centre

4-court sports hall Squash Court Outdoor hard-courts Grass pitches (5 Senior Football, 3 Junior Football, 1 Senior Rugby and 1 Hockey Pitch) Boxing gym

And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management. Duties may change over time and you will be expected to co-operate where such changes are reasonable.

General supervision by the Operational Manager and in their absence by the Centre Manager.

4. PROBLEMS AND DECISIONS

The post holder may be largely unsupervised and will need to be able to adopt a common sense approach to problem solving.

The post holder will be expected to work according to the Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plan for Dual Use Sites.

5. CONTACTS

Clubs, users, Contractors, School PE Department and Operational Team, Coaches, schools/colleges, suppliers, sporting organisations.

6. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (SELECTION CRITERIA)

Essential CriteriaOther statistics

The two sites have an annual attendance of over 205,000 and are open 7 day per week including school holidays.

(a) Must be prepared to train for Emergency First Aid and Defibrilation qualification and be in possession of this within one month of starting employment.

(b) Must be committed to high standards in facilities, service and customer satisfaction.

(c) Must be able to work on own initiative and be confident to take control of unexpected situations which may occur.

(d) Must be able to work individually and as part of a team and communicate effectively.

(e) Experience of leisure centre/outdoor sports complex work an advantage.

(f) Must possess strong IT skills with experience of using word processing and spreadsheet packages.

7. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND/OR STRAIN Moving and setting up of sporting equipment.

8. WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Sports centre and school environment.

9. EQUIPMENT

Normal office equipment.

Sports equipment including; badminton posts / nets, tennis posts / nets, netball posts / bases, five-a-side football goals etc.

10. SPECIAL NOTES OR CONDITIONS

(a) The post holder will be required to work on a rota system during evenings and weekends in addition to occasional day time hours during school holidays and as required by the Operational Manager.

(b) The post holder will be expected to work the majority of time on their own.

(c) The post holder will be required to wear a uniform when on duty.

(d) The post holder may be required to be called out in the event of an emergency.

(e) The post holder may be required to provide cover at times of sickness or holidays.

(f) The post holder will be subject to a Discourse and Barring Service Check.
