STEEL STRUCTURES APPLICATIONS:

QUIZZES, MIDTERMS and FINAL EXAM:

1. Quiz problems will include theory as well as numerical problems. 2. All quizzes and exams are closed book.3. All problem solutions must be done on paper provided. Work will be done on one side only. The format

of the solution must include assumptions and the solution or answer clearly shown.

4. The solution must illustrate the understanding of the material. Correct numerical solutions alone are insufficient for any credit.

5. If a problem starts with incorrect assumptions and formulations, it will receive no credit.

6. All answers must be accompanied by units.

7. Quizzes and exams are to be taken with a fully charged calculator. Calculators may not be borrowed during the quizzes.

8. The dates of the quizzes will be announced.

9. No mid-term warning notice will be given.

10. Students cannot leave the classroom during quizzes or exam.

11. Cell phones must be OFF and laptop computers / notebooks / tablets not necessary in class.

HOMEWORK POLICY:

1. Homework will be assigned as the material is covered and will be put in to the box (NO:3-Steel Structures and Steel Project) before Frıday.

2. No assignment will be accepted after the answers have been posted. Students are encouraged to discuss and formulate solutions to the problems by working in teams.

3. However, assignments must be completed and submitted individually. Simply copying the answers from another student or from a solutions manual is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

GUIDELINES FOR HOMEWORK :

1. Use good quality paper, such as engineering graph paper or college-ruled paper, any color, with no spiral edges

2. Write on only one side of the paper

3. Either pen or pencil is acceptable

4. On the top of each page, in the space provided, LETTER your classroom instructor’s name and section, problem number, student’s name (LAST, FIRST) and page number (1 of 7, 2 of 7, etc.).

5. The problems must be presented in numerical order as assigned. One problem per page. Write on one side of the sheet only. Lettering and numbers are to be neat, clear and legible.

6. Neatly box all answers, and include appropriate units for numerical answers

7. Show all work (e.g. no work means no credit will be given)

8. Staple all pages together in the upper left corner
