Chères lectrices, chers lecteurs,

Le temps passe vite, l'été arrive,

les congés pointent leur nez et déjà

la rentrée se prépare ! 4motion

accueillera du 2 au 7 septembre un

séminaire européen d'envergure,

la Conférence d'été du réseau de

formateurs par les pairs EPTO, qui

réunira, nous l'espérons, 50 jeunes

venant de toute l'Europe à Luxembourg.

Point d'orgue et clôture d'un projet qui

durant une année a mobilisé notre

équipe pour différents événements,

dont une formation à la diversité

religieuse qui eut lieu en Slovénie en

avril dernier et dont vous trouverez ici

un témoignage de formateur.

Cette newsletter fait aussi la part

belle à l'initiative collective « Action

Teams » qui concrétise une approche

intégrée originale de l'engagement

social des jeunes au Luxembourg

que nous souhaitons promouvoir.

Au niveau interne, notre équipe se

recompose, avec le départ d'Ana et

le retour de Gary dès septembre. De

nombreux projets battent leur plein

et nous occupent en continu ... ce qui

n'empêche pas de nouvelles ambitions

de voir le jour, en particulier celle de

proposer un catalogue complet de nos

ateliers de sensibilisation et de nos

offres de formation. Un catalogue que

nous vous présenterons à la rentrée,

dans notre prochaine newsletter.

D'ici là, nous vous souhaitons

d'excellentes vacances d'été !

As a closure of the « PEER I M »

project implemented in 2009 by the

European Peer Training Organisation

(EPTO), 4motion will host its

“Summer Conference”, from 2nd to 7th

September in Luxembourg. For this

event we will try to gather 50 people

belonging to the network, notably peer

trainers who took part in the three

2009 training courses on religious

diversity, gender-based discrimination

and racism, participants from the

Peers-To-Professionals seminar, but

also representatives from the NPOs

involved in the organisation of this

project.

The Summer Conference 2009

aims at discussing minority rights

and discrimination against minorities

in Europe, offering the chance

to the new peer trainers to facilitate

workshops, evaluating

the overall multi-measure project

and strengthening EPTO network.

Religious diversity trainings : a trainer's testimony from Slovenia ...

Offrir aux jeunes la possibilité

d'acquérir des compétences sociales

et relationnelles pour s’auto-

organiser et travailler en groupe,

découvrir le monde associatif ,

inventer, créer, innover et mieux

cerner leur rôle de citoyens actifs

tournés vers la société de demain :

le partenariat « Action Teams » se

propose d’accompagner les jeunes

dans cet apprentissage de la vie en

société.

Des jeunes peuvent se constituer en

groupe autogéré, appelé « Action

Teams », pour essayer de mettre

en oeuvre ensemble leurs propres

projets. 4motion (Esch-sur-Alzette)

et le CIJ (Luxembourg-Gare) se

proposent de les accompagner

si besoin est que ce soit dans

la recherche d'informations ou

d'interlocuteurs, dans la formulation

de leur idée de projet, dans la

constitution de dossiers, par la mise

en lisaison avec d'autres acteurs.

La promotion des « Action Teams »

se fait au travers d'ateliers de

sensibilisation des partenaires et de

leurs membres. La plus-value est

que les jeunes pourront désormais

passer à l'acte après la sensibilisation

en proposant et en réalisant leurs

propres projets tout en étant suivis et

soutenus quand ils en ont besoin.

L'initiative « Action Teams » est

portée par 4motion a.s.b.l., le

Centre Information Jeunes, le

cercle de coopération des ONG de

développement et la Conférence

Générale de la Jeunesse

luxembourgeoise.

On the 28th March 2009 I embarked

on a tiny plane to Ljubljana, both

excited and a bit anxious for

delivering my first 5 - day religious

diversity training with two occasional

co-facilitators, Julie, a Belgian

diversity trainer, and Nina, a German

anthropologist and trainer. (...)

The day after the three of us took

the train to Jesenice, where we

would meet Urska, our contact from

Zavod Voluntariat, the local NGO

hosting the training. After a lunch in

this grey and misty industrial city,

we headed to Planica, the actual

training location. Imagine a bunch

of wooden chalets surrounded

by snowy mountains and stately

conifers ... Directly near the biggest

ski jump in the world! There we

were, the three of us, alone in this

big house, trying to focus on how we

would make the optimal use of the

time that we were given to deliver

this training. Questions were raised:

this religious diversity programme

was created by CEJI – A Jewish

Contribution to An Inclusive Europe,

and originally designed for adult

educators, but we were there in the

frame of a European Peer Training

Organisation's multi-measure

project, thus targeting youth

educators and trainers. How would

we deal with that and somewhat

adapt the activities and tools for

using them with youngsters ? How

would we explain that clearly to the

participants ?

Monday 30th March, after a long-

expected soothing night, the awaited

participants progressively arrived

while we were still brainstorming

on our agenda. 17 people, 14

girls and 3 boys only (interesting

gender issue ...), between 21

and 29, coming from Slovenia,

Romania, Hungary, Greece, The

Netherlands, Germany, France,

Belgium and Poland. All of them

somehow involved in social work,

training and working with youth. All

of them having different systems

of beliefs and diverse approaches

to God, the Sacred, the Divine,

spirituality or the non-existence of

any transcendence ... That's the

point where you realize that it could

be useless to plan too much what

you precisely want to achieve before

even knowing the people you would

work with and who actually would

orient the learning-process according

to their wants and needs. Having

an idea of how the whole cupboard

would look like, yes. But with a lot of

flexible drawers inside ... (…)

Semaine contre la violence au Lycée Technique du Centre

On April 25th I headed over to Lisbon

to participate in the training course

on “Religious Diversity and Anti-

Discrimination for adult educators”

organised by CEJI with the support

of a mobility grant from Grundtvig.

(…) As a trainer I was used to work

with the general methodology this

training course was based on. So my

learning goals were more focused on

the exchange with other trainers and

on discovering new approaches for

working with adults. (…)

Once again it became clear how

wrong first impressions might be :

the group of 19 participants did not

seem very diverse in the beginning :

one Muslim participant and a trainer

with Jewish background amongst

Christian socialised people who still

believe, did never or do not anymore.

Well the week showed how personal

and sensitive this topic is and that

a lot of revelations or deceptions

made the people stand for or against

certain religious convictions. Thanks

to our two trainers who managed

to provide space needed for us to

express and to share. (…)

Already the first exercise put me

into trouble : we were requested to

draw a personal symbol representing

our own religious identity. Currently

I do not have a clear response to

what my beliefs are and so I was

shocked that all the symbols I drew

had Christian connotations which on

a rational level I did not want to have

on my drawing. (…)

I felt empowered at the end of the

week, my personal reflections on

the topic have grown enormously

and it was the first time that I felt

so strongly the power behind the

methodology maybe because I was

personally concerned.

Dans le cadre de la semaine « Lycée sans

violence » au Lycée Technique du Centre à

Luxembourg les 28, 29 et 30 avril derniers, 4motion

a animé un atelier de sensibilisation intitulé « Agir

contre la violence » auprès de trois classes : une

7ème et une 8ème francophones ainsi qu'une 10ème

luxembourgeoise.

Nous avons abordé le thème de la violence d'abord

sous l'angle de la subjectivité des élèves, puis

nous avons cherché à développer collectivement

un langage commun (violence verbale, physique,

psychologique, sexuelle ...) et enfin à élaborer

de façon interactive des stratégies pour lutter ou

simplement éviter des situations quotidiennes où la

violence peut se manifester.

Kinder spenden für Anti-DiskriminierungsprojektManchmal fällt einem das Geld sprichwörtlich in den Schoß. Dieses

Gefühl hatten wir jedenfalls als wir die Nachricht erhielten, dass die

Kinder des 5. und 6. Schuljahres aus Kayl und Tétange uns einen Teil

von dem Erlös ihrer Aktivitäten spenden wollten. An einem Freitag

nachmittag konnten wir uns und unsere Arbeit kurz vorstellen und mit

den Kindern unser 1, 2 oder 3 Quiz rund um das Thema Diskriminierung

spielen.

4motion wird die gespendeten 2 500 EUR für das Projekt „Märchen

der Vielfalt“ einsetzen wo wir anhand von Märchen das Thema

Diskriminierung mit Kindern versuchen zu erarbeiten und ihnen

aufzuzeigen wie sie sich gegen Diskriminierungen einsetzen können.

An dieser Stelle noch einmal ein herzliches Dankeschön für diese Geste

an die Schulkinder und ihre Lehrer.

Un stage auprès de 4motion Cette année scolaire 4motion a accueilli ses premières élèves pour

leur stage administratif et commercial. Elles ont pu découvrir le

fonctionnement d'une association sans but lucratif et nous assister dans

la comptabilité et le secrétariat, découvrir de nouvelles techniques,

rédiger des résumés, préparer une présentation ... Merci donc à Daisy et

Vittoria pour leur travail, leurs questions et leur patience, bonne route à

elles !

L'expérience était enrichissante pour nous et nous sommes prêts

à la reconduire. Nous pouvons accueillir des élèves pour un stage

administratif ou un stage pédagogique plus axé sur les ateliers de

sensibilisation et formations que nous proposons.
